1.  Conrad HAHN[1] was born between 1762 and 4 in York Co., Pa..  He died in 1815 in Clark Co., IN.  Conrad would have had to be at least 21 when he executed his first  deed in 1789, making his birthdate no later than 1768. He is often  listed as son of Benedict. However the dates and circumstances aren't   right for him to be Benedict's son. He is probably Carolus bp. 3 May  1762 by Jacob Lischy in York Co., Pa. (LSE) Mrs. Gladys Edwards shows Carolus or Conrad Hahn, born 1762 in York  Co., Pa., christened 3 May 1762, St. Peter's Church, Spring Grove, York, PA, d. 1815 Clark Co., Ind.

 

Conrad HAHN and Maria Anna MILLER were married about 1790 in Lincoln (Catawba County), North Carolina.  Maria Anna MILLER[2] was born on 26 Jan 1767 in PA.  She was baptized on 19 Jul 1767.

Hahn  She died before 11 Jun 1821 in Clark Co., IN.  She was bp Smoke Lutheran Church in PA and confirmed at South Fork, Newton, NC along with Conrad and Christian Hahn.

8.     Isaac J. HAWN (John  (4)-2, Conrad-1) was born on 25 May 1831 in Washington, Indiana.  He died on 4 Jun 1903.  Isaac and Nancy are buried in Little York Cemetery, Washington  County, Indiana.  Birth dates from IGI; other names from Phyllis Ferguson.  It is said that Isaac Hawn was born a cripple in the state of  Pennsyvania. Moved to Iowa near Des Moines River then came back to  Indiana in a covered wagon. Brought one cow and a half dozen chickens   with them. Milked the cow once a day and the movement of the wagon  made butter. This story was told by Mary Hawn Commbs.  Family tradition has it that James Hawn was born in 1852 and 6 weeks  later Isaac and Nancy left for the state of Iowa (This is in all  probablity John instead of James.) by Lee Coombs August 9 1955 Aunt Nannie came to visit us, and the talk fell into the old days. She  told how her father (Isaac Hawn, Harley's grandfather) had walked to  Lafayette to work on a canal there to earn money for a wedding suit.  Then after the marriage, how provoked his wife was when he sold the  suit to buy needed household supplies! Iowa pastures looked greener,  so when Jim was a few weeks old he sold his 40 acres planted in corn  for $40.00 and driving a fine team of horses to a good wagon, they  started on the long journey. He prospered, but because his wife and  baby had both been sick most of the year they had been there, he  suddenly decided to move back. Found no one home. "Mam" Huckleberry, his wife Nancy's mother ( who Aunt Nannie said , had been a cousin to   the Davy Crockett) wasn't home; she being in great demand as a mid- wife. A big kettle of frozen pumkin and cold cornbread was all  the food the returned travellers could find, but being hoosier  provender it was good! And amazingly the baby Jim (Marie Zaring's  grandfather) ate the warmed pumkin and smacked his little lips for  more- the first food he hadn't refused for days! And from that day thrived and grew. Aunt Nannie said her father worked at a cooper's  trade, as a shoe maker, carpenter - anything to get a start. He  succeeded ably and became one of the big landowners and a successful  farmer, giving to each son either 40 acres of land or money, as each  married. Email dated 17 April 2000 from Danieta Foster, granddaughter of Henry Hawn (son of Charles Willard Hawn>son of Isaac Hawn>son of John Hawn). "All of the information we have on the family matches with your site with the exception of the wife of Charles Willard Hawn. She is listed on your site as Sarah McKnight. He was married to Donie Casey. One of Henry's children gave me this info and my aunt checked the cemetery. The woman buried next to and listed as his wife is Donie. They had 4 sons and 2 daughters according to their grandchildren."
