Frequently Asked Questions
Hello,
Thank you for visiting the Johannes Hahn Family History site. I hope you will find what you seek.
For those with questions about these pages, perhaps the following will help:
1.
Do you have any more information about ______________?
If it isn’t in these pages, I don’t know it. However I love to know if you like my work and whether it helped you on your genealogy quest.
2.
I really must ask this question _________
If you absolutely have to ask something, you MUST provide name, dates of birth and/or marriage and/or death, and preferably city and state.. These are the building blocks of genealogy. To say “I’m looking for information about my father (grandfather, etc.)…” is not helpful. Within the Hahn/Hawn/Honn family there are many duplicated names so the additional information will help me sort out the object of your question. If there's something in these pages you need to ask about, give me the URL (name of the page, at the top, in the blank space marked URL).
3.
I have more information about (female) Hahn/Hawn. Would you like me to send it?
This work is named Johannes Hahn Family History for a reason. Female Hahn lines are not continued, only male. I know, it’s sexist, but I’m trying to trace the Hahn name, not the Sigmon, Abernethy or any other surname who might have married a female Hahn.
4. Will you print the names of my family who are descended from Hahns?
Except for a few stray instances, the people in this work lived in the 17th, 18th and 19th centuries. Beginning in the 20th century, some of the people may still be alive and would not want their names spread over the Internet. Some are adamant about their privacy so this is an effort to protect them. If your name appears in this body of work and you want it removed, you have only to ask. Again, identify the page it's on.
5.
I appreciate all letters, even those seeking information. If I can help, I will. But see #1.
