Alexander A. Berrier was born in Defiance Co., OH, where he met and married Mary Ann Stuckey on Jan. 21, 1875. The family later moved to Blackford Co. IN, which is where Alexander died.

Father of Wells County Woman Dies at Home West of Montpelier

A. A. Berrier, 76, died at his home northwest of Montpelier at 9:30 o'clock, Thursday morning of heart trouble and complications. He had been bedfast for the past four weeks.

Alexander Berrier was born in Defiance county, Ohio, in November, 1856, where he spent his early life. When about thirty years of age he and his family moved to Indiana. Mr. Berrier was the father of eleven children, six boys and five girls, four of whom have preceded him in death. Mrs. Berrier died about three years ago.

The surviving children are Charles Berrier, Ashville [sic; should be Ashtabula] county, O.; A. J. Berrier, Hartford City; John Berrier, near Roll; Roy Berrier, south of Montpelier; Everett Berrier, near Montpelier; Mrs. Minnie Banter, Jackson township, Wells county; and Mrs. Sadie Gardner, Hartford City. Forty-one grandchildren and a number of great-grandchildren also survive.

Heart Disease is Fatal to Chester Township Woman

Mrs. Mary Ann Berrier, 72, died at her home six and on-half miles northwest of Montpelier, at 3 o'clock this morning, of heart trouble. She had been in failing health for two years. While on a visit at Dayton, four weeks ago, she became seriously ill and had been bedfast since then.

Mrs. Berrier was born in Williams Co., Ohio, December 25, 1856, the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Ulrich Stookey.

She married Alex Berrier, January 21, 1875, at Defiance, Ohio. He survives.

Children surviving are Mrs. Minnie Banter, Mrs. Sadie Gardner, Oliver, John, Everett, all of Wells county; Charles, of Dorset, Ohio; Andy and Roy, of Hartford City.

One brother, Fred Stookey, west of Montpelier, survives.

She was a member of the German Reformed church.

Funeral services will be held at the Asbury chapel, in Wells county, Thursday afternoon at 2 o'clock. Burial will be made in the Asbury cemetery. The sons will act as pallbearers.
