LeMoines of Notarity

Here are some LeMoines of Notarity, I have included them to help answer the question "Are we related?"

Charles LeMoyne, sieur de Longueil, Pierre LeMoyne d'Iberville, Jean Baptiste LeMoyne

This is the founding father of the other LeMoyne family, the famous one, in Canada. He came from Dieppe, France. He was the son of an innkeeper. He came to Canada as an "engage", or hired help. He was assigned to the Huron mission. Afterwards he developed a career as a soldier and a seigneur of Longueil, he eventually became a Baron. His sons were famous for their military careers, exploration and governing in the colonies.

Pierre was a navy officer and battled many a British ship in the Hudson Bay, he also was the founding govener of Louisiana. Jean Baptiste should not be confused with our ancestor by the same name, who lived about 100 years later.

He is reputed to be a "cousin" or "close relation" to our ancestor, Jean Lemoyne. This is discussed here.

Sir James McPherson LeMoine

He was a 19th century Quebec author, lawyer, naturalist and ornithologist. He was knighted by Queen Victoria for his litterary accomplishments, the first non-political knighthood granted to a French Canadian. He wrote many books, in English and in French. Including the volumes Maple Leaves, which I have cited elsewhere it this text.

He is in fact a member of our clan, he was the son of William Henri LeMoine's (5th Canadian Generation) brother.

Lionel LeMoine Fitzgerald

He was the seventh member of the group of seven. He was the westerner, coming form Winnepeg, where he was born in 1890.

His relationship has not been established. He is not in Edith LeMoine's book, but there are other errors and omissions in that text, some of which I have corrected in this work. There is however a LeMoine that married a Fitzgerald and moved to Manitoba, interestingly there are a number of Lionels in this group, as well as a number of individuals with the middle name LeMoine. Although I have no proof , I strongly suspect he must be a realative.

Lem Billings (Kirk Lemoyne 1916-1981)

This guy was JF Kennedy's life long best friend and advisor. (some have also suggested his lover) He is from the Boston area. There are a number of Lemoynes (spelt like that) descending from our ancestor who moved to the Boston area. They also had a tendancy to maintain the Lemoyne as a middle name.

Genus Mesophyllum Lemoine
Lectotype species: Mesophyllum lichenoides (Ellis) Lemoine 1928

This is a coralline red algae from the upper Lake Garda, Northren, Italy and are the only genus of the subfamily Melobesioideae with a "crustose to fruticose but not taeniform" growth-forms (pag. 390) and with "a predominantly coaxial core" (pag. 392, Woelkerling & Irvine, 1986; Woelkerling, 1988).

I don't know how famous they are, but they do have their own web site. I was not able to determine relationship to these Lemoines, I think the family tree would have to go back a few more generations to get to unicellular life forms.
