James McPherson LeMoyne, was born at Quebec on January 24, 1825. Because of his mother's early death he lived at the Seigneurial Manor of his Grandfather McPherson at Isle-aux- Grues. He studied at le Petit Seminaire of Quebec, eventually became a lawyer. He married Harriet Mary Atkinson in 1831. He was a bilingual author and naturalist, writing about Canadian r History and Ornithology, he wrote one of the references to this text "Memoire de Famille" and was President of the Royal Society of Canada, he was knighted by Queen Victoria in 1897. The first French Canadian to be knighted for other than political reasons; he died at Spencer Grange Febuary 5, 1912.
