On the third page is the "lie" about his age, he lists it as being 22 years old, he had just turned 18 the month before.
Upon his separation he was to be appointed to West Point because of his service in France, because of this "lie" his appointment was denied. He then reenlisted for service in Panama in 1920.
I believe he did make it to Panama, I recall him saying he had served there. He finally received his appointment to the U.S. Military Academy, Class of 1925.
He received his appointment through his Congressman in Alabama.
