     Easter Sunday, always a favorite time for announcements of interest, this year brings engagements of popular young women, two of whom will be June brides and another who has chosen early May for her marriage to a New Yorker.
     Easter week after the quietude of the Lenten season will be crowded with gay events including weddings and their attendant festivities, masked balls, flower exhibits, style shows, teas and benefits.
     Of interest throughout the state is the announcement made Sunday by Dr. And Mrs. Joseph Leland of the engagement of their daughter, Margaret McLester, to James Lawrence Pugh.
     Miss Leland received her degree from Birmingham-Southern College, where she was a popular member of the Kappa Delta Sorority.  She made her debut in 1936-37 and the same year was presented by the Redstone Club at its annual ball.  Later she became a member of the Spinsters Club.
     Mr. Pugh is the second of three sons of Mrs. John C. Pugh and the late Judge Pugh.  He was affiliated with Alpha Tau Omega social fraternity and Phi Alpha Delta legal fraternity at the University of Alabama, where he received his law degree.  He is a member of the Shades Valley Country Club.
     The wedding of this popular couple will take place June 1, and they will afterwards make their home in Birmingham, where Mr. Pugh is connected with the Federal Court.
