Captain Paul Mangin and his 2nd wife Anne Henreitte d'Aulnis de la
Lande

These two portraits
were just recently auctioned off by UKAuctioneers. They were until then
in possession of family.
They were sold for £ 3000, approximately $4,500 US. The
description that was included in the lot follows.
- CIRCLE OF STEPHEN SLAUGHTER (1697-1765)PORTRAIT OF CAPT.
PAUL MANGIN; and of ANNE HENRIETTA MANGIN (nee D'AULNIS DE LALANDE)Two,
each seated three quarter length, wearing a red suit and holding
gloves; she wearing a blue dress, in a landscape126 x 101cm. and 124 x
96cm. (2)* Paul Mangin (1700-1797) was born in Cologne sur Laspree near
Berlin but his family left Metz in France and settled in Lisburn in
1715 before moving to Dublin. Mangin became a captain in the 46th
Regiment of Foot and his second wife, Anne (1714-1779), also from a
Huguenot family in Metz, bore him three sons. Capt. Mangin died in
Berlin and is buried with his wife in the French Cemetery in Peter
Street, Dublin. His first wife was almost certainly Madeleine
Crommelin, also from a notable Huguenot family.Provenance: By descent
