| Generation No. 5 Benjamin WAKEHAM, born 1839, of Plymouth, Devon, married Emily JAMES, born 1850, Ireland. Benjamin transferred from the Royal Navy into the Coastguard in 1867. His service took him to several different posts: Ballycotton, Ireland, Falmouth, Coverak, Looe, Whitenose and Cadgwith. According to one record Benjamin was 5'6", with brown hair, gray eyes, and fair complexion. He went to sea at age 15, and retired, at age 55, as chief boatman in the Coast Guard. Benjamin met Emily James in Ballycotton, Ireland, where her father, Richard JAMES, who was also stationed. The children of Benjamin and Emily (James) Wakeham follow:
