		Elizabeth Jane WAKEHAM, born 1868, Ballycotton, Ireland, as pictured in midlife. Both Elizabeth's father and maternal grandfather were English born, serving in the R.N. Coastguard. Later, she married John Charles ELLIOTT of Pembrokeshire, Wales. Elizabeth gave birth to 14 children, and lived through 2 World Wars. Her family history follows:

		Generation No. 1 Thomas WAKEHAM married Anne HARRADON of Thurlestone, Devon. Their children: Thomas, born 1742/3 John, born 1747/8
		Generation No. 2 Thomas WAKEHAM, born 1742/3, married Anne YABSLEY, born 1743/44 of Thurlestone, Devon. Their children: Thomas, born 1768 Samuel, born 1770 Elizabeth, born 1778 Mary, born 1780
		Generation No. 3 Thomas WAKEHAM, born 1768 in Aveton Gifford, Devon, married Sarah PROWSE, of Aveton Gifford. Their children: Thomas, born 1794 Mary Ann, born 1797 William Prouse, born 1799 Samuel, born 1802 Sarah, born 1804 John Yablsey, born 1807
		Generation No. 4 William Prouse/Prowse WAKEHAM, of Aveton Gifford married Jane DOIDGE, born abt. 1802, on June 30, 1823, in Calstock, Cornwall. Their children: Benjamin, born 1839 Ephraim, born abt. 1842 Joseph, born abt. 1848
		Generation No. 5 Benjamin WAKEHAM, born 1839, of Plymouth, Devon, married Emily JAMES, born 1850, Ireland. Benjamin transferred from the Royal Navy into the Coastguard in 1867. His service took him to several different posts: Ballycotton, Ireland, Falmouth, Coverak, Looe, Whitenose and Cadgwith. According to one record Benjamin was 5'6", with brown hair, gray eyes, and fair complexion. He went to sea at age 15, and retired, at age 55, as chief boatman in the Coast Guard. Benjamin met Emily James in Ballycotton, Ireland, where her father, Richard JAMES, who was also stationed. The children of Benjamin and Emily (James) Wakeham follow: Elizabeth Jane, born 1868, who married John Charles Elliott Emily Anne, born 1870 William Richard, born 1873 Macy C., born abt. 1879 Matilda, born abt. 1881
