Mabel Lefevers
Mabel "Granny" Lefevers,
age 84, of Pineville died Tuesday, May 24, 1988, at the Pineville Community
Hospital following a sudden illness. She was born in Somerset, Kentucky,
August 4, 1903 to the late Ernest and Mahalia Howard Withrow. A resident
of Bell County since 1906, she was a homemaker and a member of the Blackmont
Baptist Church. She was a member of the Business and Professional Womens
Club of Pineville and of the Pineville Eastern Star Chapter No. 89.
She was preceded in death
by her husband, Jasper Newt Lefevers, who she married on June 22, 1923;
one daughter, Dorothy Gertrude Naulty; one son, Ferman (Nick) Lefevers;
and one sister, Mrs. Josephine Howard.
Mrs. Lefevers is survived
by two daughters, Mrs. Ernest Ann Broughton, Pineville, and Mrs. Eva Bea
Hebron, Columbus, Ohio; one son, Jasper Newt Lefevers, Chincinnati, Ohio;
three sisters, Mrs. Jeanie W. Young, Pineville, Mrs. Ellen Dickenson, Lexington,
and Mrs. Beatrice Howard, Crab Orchard, Ky.; twelve grandchildren, and
eight great-grandchildren.
Services were at 2 p.m.
at the Arnett Funeral Home Chapel on Friday, May 27, 1988 with the Rev.
Pearl Saylor, Rev. Freeman Clark, and Rev. Jim Simpson. Burial was in the
Pineville Memorial Cemetery. Pallbearers were Joe Ward, John E. Jones,
Charles Jones, Harve Coach, James E. Maden, Harold Simpson, John Young,
and Harry Bruner. Honorary pallbearers were her grandsons.
