Dorton Branch Woman Dies from Burns
Pineville - A fire Sunday, Dec. 15 at Dorton Branch that resulted in
the death of two men also has taken the life of Mrs. Lucy Osborne, 78.
Mrs. Osborne, the wife of the Rev. Dave G.
Osborne, and mother of Charles (Chalk) Osborne, both of whom died when
the fire swept their five room frame home, died about noon Wednesday.
She had been in critical condition at the
Pineville Community Hopital with burns on 90 per cent of her body since
the fire.
Mrs. Osborne was the daughter of Tip and Susan
Elliott Lefevers. She had been a member of the Dorton Branch Baptist Church
for 35 years.
She is survived by a daughter, Mrs. Norma
Bingham, Barbourville; four sons, Hobert Osborne, Covington, Earl Osborne,
Dorton Branch, J.B. Osborne, Drakesboro, and Roudalph Osborne, Barbourville;
a sister, Mrs. Norma Bice, Indianapolis; a brother, John Lefevers, Dorton
Branch, nine grandchildren and nine great grandchildren.
Funeral services were conducted Thursday,
Dec. 19 at the Durham Funeral Home chapel with the Rev. W.B. Bingham and
the Rev. Thea O. Carter officiating. Burial was in Pineville Memorial Cemetery.
Pallbearers were T. Ed Asher, Ronnie Redmond,
Frank Garrison, Clifford Garland, Clyde Garland and Asa Mills.
Durham Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
