NEWT J. LEFEVERS, SR.

Newt J. Lefevers, Sr., of 213 Virginia Avenue, Pineville, Ky., died Wednesday, October 9 at 3:50 p.m. at the Appalacian Hospital at Harlan after a long illness.
    He was born on September 24, 1901, the son of the late Noah Lefevers and Annie Elliott Lefevers, both of Bell County. Mr. Lefevers was a member of a prominent family and had been a life long resident of Bell County. He was employed at the Kentucky Cardinal Coal Company at Cardinal, Ky., until his retirement two years ago. He was a member of the Blackmont Baptist Church and a member of United Mine Workers District Number 19.
    He is survived by his wife, Mrs. Mable Lefevers, Pineville;  three daughters, Mrs. Ernest (Ann) Broughton, Pineville, Mrs. Eva B. Howard, Camp Lejeune, N.C., and Mrs. Getrude Naulty, Blackstone, Va; two sons, Ferman J. Lefevers and Newt J. Lefevers Jr., of Norwood, Ohio; three sisters, Mrs. Mary Simpson, London, Mrs. Maxine Brock, Wharton, W. Va., and Mrs. Lizzie Lefevers of Cincinnati, Ohio; two brothers, Walter Lefevers, Morristown, and Martin Lefevers of Cincinnati, Ohio; 10 grandchildren and one great-grandson.
    Funeral services will be held at the Arnett Funeral Home Chapel Saturday, October 12 at 2 p.m. with the Rev James Wells and Rev. Will Ed Kirk officiating.
    Active pall bearers will be Kari (Happy) Hasken, Pearl Helton, Cam Lefevers, Thurman Helton, Charlie Helton, Clifford Hoskins, Joe Stras and Edy Baker. Honorary pall bearers will be Edward Simpson, Virgil Simpson, James Simpson, George Simpson Jr., Harold Simpson, Arthur Ray Lefevers, Howard Napier, John Young, Charlie Lefevers, Roy Brock Jr., Paul Brock, and B. F. Howard Jr.
    The family will receive friends at the funeral home tonight.
