~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
At the present time, we are not able to differentiate between the two Henry Watkins above.   Colors for the two
will be corrected as we learn when one leaves off and the other begins.   The younger Henry Watkins moved to Kentucky and is the ancestor of Yvonne Watkins Clark.   Our own Henry Watkins (b.NC ca.1777-d.p.1870
Oconee Co., South Carolina) probably is not included in any of the land transactions in Surry/Stokes, NC.
We don't know that, however, at this point.   Lee 4/28/2012
                          A Henry Watkins purchased property on Little Buck Island Creek on 28 Dec 1795
                          from Charles Ellett of Stokes Co.NC for 80 pounds currency, this property lies on
                          the north side of Charles Elletts' lower survey.   Witnesses to this transaction were:
                          Stephen Ferguson and Henry Tilley.  Henry Watkins sold this land to Isaac Bullin
                          for 40 pounds currency ca.1806, which is about the time he removed to Kentucky.
                          Witnesses to this transaction:  John Whitlock, Charles Whitlock and Joseph Cloud.
                          The sale of this property was not recorded for many years, but passed down in the
                          Bullin family until almost 100 years later, when  the deed was recorded in Stokes Co.
1796  Henry (Jr. or II)  Stokes Co.  It is through the 1796 Tax records of Stokes Co., NC
              &         that we first find Henry Watkins, Jr.,  in Capt. Beasley's District, paying tax on
wife  'Polly'       100a & 1 poll.  This is also the same Tax District as James Duncan, the Father
             &          of Mary 'Polly' (Duncan) Watkins.  Since Elisha, son of Henry & Polly, was
son Elisha         b. 28 Jul 1795, we can estimate their marriage to be about 1794 when Henry was
                          about 26 and Polly about 19. (I have paraphrased Yvonne's records.  Lee Preston)
