Anna Auguste Martha BLOEDORN was born on 21 Jun 1896 in Cumming Co, Ne.⁽¹¹³⁵⁾ She appeared on the census on 10 May 1910 in Whitewoman Twp, Wichita Co, Ks.⁽¹¹³⁶⁾ She died on 28 Jul 1928 in Los Angeles, Los Angeles Co, Ca. Anna came to KS from Nebraska with her parents in 1901. The family homesteaded land in the southern part of Wichita Co. but later moved to Arkansas for several years and then returned to Western Kansas. Anna was confirmed in the Lutheran Church in 1911.

At one time, probably in the early 20's, she and a friend, Mary Kuhlmann, went to Colorado Springs, CO to work. They worked in a TB hospital there. I don't know how long she worked there but I do know that her parents did not apprive of the place -- I'm sure they were concerned about her health. She came back home and then in 1927, she left Kansas and went to Los Angeles, CA to work; her aunt, Martha Breitkreutz lived there. While in Los Angeles, she became ill with pneumonia and died. Her body was shipped back to Western Kansas and was buried in the Lydia Lutheran Cemetary.

I was only 7 years old at the time of Anna's death but I remember the sheriff coming out to our house in the middle of the night to tell us of her death. I'm sure he had been to the Bloedorn family home first but had then stopped to tell all the rest of the family too. At the time there were no telephone around that part of the county and I imagine the death message had come to Leoti, the nearest town, by telegram and them someone had to bring the message from town out into the country. I also remember that Rev. Walter Wehmeier came to preach at her funeral. He had been the minister for the Lydia Lutheran Church at one time and then had accepted a call to a church in Eastern Kansas.

Elise Emma BLOEDORN was born on 2 Jul 1892 in Cumming Co, Ne. She died on 25 Jul 1929. Elise was born in Cumming Co. NE and moved to Wichita County, Kansas with her parents in 1901. After moving to kansas, first attended school in her parents home as the teacher boarded there. Little else in known about her early years and after her marriage in 1919 she moved away. In 1929 she became ill but not seriously ill until two weeks before her death. She underwent surgery in aHospital in Kansas City, MO on July 23, and died on July 25. Her husband was away at the time, (it is believed he worked for a circus) and could not be located until after she had been buried. I remember that when her sister Annie died the year befroe, she made the statement that she wished she could have died instead of Annie. Erich Fredrich Herman BLOEDORN was born on 3 Jun 1908 in Wichita Co, Ks.⁽¹¹³⁷⁾ He appeared on the census on 10 May 1910 in Whitewoman Twp, Wichita Co, Ks.⁽¹¹³⁸⁾ He died on 19 Dec 1967 in Salina, Saline co, Ks. Erich was the only one of the Bloedorn children born in KS. He srarted to school at the age of 5, the grade was called Primer, probably about like our present day kindergarten. His first teachers name was Fern M. Freeland. His first grade teacher in 1915 was Eldora Miller. Erich graduated from the 8th grade at Grand Prairie School and then helped farm the home place. After his parents moved to Leoti in 1934, he took over the farming completely. He lived on the home place until 1959 at which time he also moved to Leoti. Marie Olga BLOEDORN⁽¹¹³⁹⁾ was born on 21 Jun 1893 in Wisner, NE. She died on 7 Sep 1969 in Lakin, Kearny co, Ks. Born near Wisner, NE, moved to Western Kansas with her parents in 1901. First attended school in her parents home as the teacher boarded there. The family moved to Arkansas and lived there 2 years before returning to KS. Homesteaded in the southern part of Wichita county. After her marriage, the rest o the family moved to what was later known as the Bloedorn Farm.
