The loss is estimated at two million dollars. Homes, cars and trees were completely demolished when heavy timbers were smashed to kindling wood and large trees torn tot he ground. Mrs and Mrs. James Hladek, 64 and 66 years, were killed when their house was wrecked by the tornado. Daniel Rohrbacher, age 65 years, was killed when the house he was living in was destroyed and he was carried out in the street by the force of the wind. Over 100 victims of the storm were treated at the hospital in Wakeeney early Wednesday morning and during the day, for major and minor injuries. The most critically injured were taken to the hospital at Hays and some to the Quinter hospital in order to relieve the crowded condition at the Wakeeney hospital.
