My connection to Darke County begins with my grandparents.
First Generation
Harry B. Warner-b. 8 June 1897 Painters Creek, Franklin Twp. Darke Co. He was
the son of Rev. James Franklin Warner and Francis Elizabeth "Libby" Martin.
Lucille L. Dunham- b. 3 Aug 1898 Darke County. She was the daughter of John
H. Dunham and Mary Catherine Mendenhall
Second Generation
James Franklin Warner b. 18 Jul 1867 Montgomery Co. He was a minister who
served churches in Darke Co. and Indiana. He was the son of Abraham Warner
and Catherine Gilbert.
Francis Elizabeth "Libby" Martin b. 8 Nov 1869. She was the daughter of
William McGuffey Martin and Acca Ann Bowers.
John H. Dunham b. 21 Oct 1862 3 miles East of Greenville. He was the son
of Henry Dumham and Sara Jane Martin.
Mary Catherine Mendenhall b. 1 Apr 1863 Darke County. She was the daughter
of Samuel T. Mendenhall and Catherine Teeters.
Third Generation
Abraham Warner b. Montgomery Co. son of John H. Warner b. Bedford co PA. son
of Henry II Warner b. Bedford Co. son of Henry I born Wurtenberg Germany
Catherine Gilbert b. 18 Sept 1840 in either Miami or Darke Co.
William McGuffey Martin b. 17 Dec 1827. He was the son of William Hugh
Martin II and Eva Cox.
Henry Dunham b. 11 Jan 1831 Darke Co. He was the son of James Dunham Sr. and
Anna Sands.
Sara Jane Martin b. 1834 Ohio. She was the daughter of John Martin and Jane ?
possibly Riffle.
Samuel Thompson Mendenhall b. 11 Aug 1828. He was the son of Marmaduke
Mendenhall and Nancy Griffin.
Catherine Teeters b. 6 Aug 1826 Bedford Co. PA She was the daughter of
Abraham Teeter and Hannah Paul.
Fourth Generation
William Hugh Martin I b.1801 PA son of William Hugh Martin I b. Northern
Ireland and Margaret Holmes.
Marmaduke Mendenhall II b. 17 Aug 1797 in Wrightsboro GA. Son of
Marmaduke Mendenhall I and Alice Benson.
James Dunham Sr. b. 1808 Essex Co. NJ son of Ross Dunham b. 1786 Westfield
NJ and Sarah "Sally " Roll b. NJ.
