Elizabeth VORE Peck

Back toPeck Page

Was born near West Milton January 2:3, 1826 and died June 13, 1908 at the age of 82 years, 4 months and 20 days. She was the daughter of Peter and Rebecca Vore who were among the early settlers of Union Township. Only two sons of this large family are now living George and Henry Vore.

Our sister as united in marriage with Lucius Peck October 26, 1842. He was a prominent School teacher in this section for many years, and died September 20, 1891. To them were given ten daughters, five of whom survive the mother: namely. Mrs. Susan Leckrone, of Indiana; Mrs. Rcbecca Shearer, of Illinois; Parola Yount, of West Milton; Mrs. Emma Ryan, of Versailles, and Mrs. Dora Elliott, of near Fidelity. It was from the latter's home that the mother passed away after four mouths of severe affliction.

She was tenderly cared for by the entire family as opportunity afforded. She found great comfort in the Love and devotion of her children and grandchildren.

In early life she became a member of the Presbyterian church near her home. When the West Union Christian church was organized she became a charter member and remained in its fellowship until death.

The end came peacefully at last, and is entered upon that rest for she had longed for many

weary months.

The funeral services were held by Rev. O. P. Furnas in the West Union church and she was laid to rest in the cemetery near by. The family has the sympathy of a host of friends in the loss of this excellent mother.
