     Another Georg Willheit of this generation, son of Hans Willert, married Rosina Knerr, widow of Georg Kneer and daughter of Hans Michael. Georg and Rosina had a son Georg, born 3 July 1616. Their son should not be confused with Johann Michael's ancestor who was born 25 April 1610.¹

     Georg Willert was born circa 1550 in Schwaigern, Württemberg.¹ Georg died between 1611 and 1617 in Schwaigern, Württemberg.¹

     The earliest record that mentions the Willheit family is a 1539 tax record in Schwaigern.¹ Variations in the spelling of the surname are Wylhart, Wilheitt, Wilheyt, and Wilhatt in that tax record. Those taxed in the 1539 record were Michael Wylhart, Jerg Wyhart, Jacob Wilheitt, Anthoni Wilheyt, and Quirin Wylhatt. It is impossible to directly connect any of these to the ancestry of Johann Michael Willheit, the immigrant to Virginia.

     The earliest known ancestor of Johann Michael is his great-great grandfather Georg Willert, born circa 1550. He is mentioned in a 1610 court case as "Old Georg Willert" at age sixty.

     In 1617, Agnes Willert, daughter of deceased George Willert, married Martin Ebelmann. It is believe that she was the daughter of this Georg Willert which would indicate that Georg died between 1611 and 1617.

     Georg Willheit was born before 23 April 1641 in Schwaigern, Württemberg. Georg was christened on 23 April 1641 in Schwaigern, Württemberg.¹ He married first Benedikta Courtoune on 7 February 1665 in Schwaigern, Württemberg.¹ Georg Willheit married second Anna Maria Bayer on 8 November 1681 in Schwaigern, Württemberg.¹ Georg died on 8 February 1717 in Schwaigern, Württemberg.¹

     George Wilhoit was born circa 1752 in Virginia.¹ He married first Elizabeth Utz.² George Wilhoit married second Sally Harvey on 23 April 1804 in Madison Co., Virginia.¹

     George Wilhite was born on 17 May 1788 in Greene Co., Tennessee.^1,2,3 He married first Unknown ?. He married second Nancy Guinn on 2 July 1822 in Knox Co., Tennessee.⁴ George died on 21 October 1856 in Tippah Co., Mississippi, at age 68.⁵
     

     Several of George's children migrated to Arkansas. The following is related by a Wilhite descendant in Arkansas: "When the Wilhites, Fryars, and Goodners left Tippah County, they were headed for the gold fields of California. After staying lost for six months in the river bottoms of southern Arkansas they finally reached the Quachita Mountains in Montgomery County. They came to a fork in the road that had signs telling were each road went, but none of them could read. No one could read in the next two wagon trains either. By the time a preacher came along to read the signs, they had all put in two crops, built cabins, and liked the place so well that they all decided to stay. And so the town of Oden, Arkansas, was born."⁶

     In the Census of 1850, enumerated 8 October 1850, George Wilhite was listed as a head of household in Tippah Co., Mississippi. He was listed at age 60, occupation as a farmer with real estate value of $1200, born in Tennessee. Also enumerated in the household: William Hugh Wilhite, King William Wilhite, Margaret Wilhite, David L. Wilhite, Elizabeth Jane Wilhite, Martha Wilhite, Z. Taylor Wilhite and Nancy Wilhite.³
