     Linsey Jackson Rose was born circa 1859 in Tennessee.¹

     Lorenzo Dow Rose was born circa 1832 in Sevier Co., Tennessee.^1,2 He married Eliza Jane Cate, daughter of William Cate and Susan Locke, on 1 September 1853 in Appanoosa Co., Iowa.¹ Lorenzo died of smallpox on 24 April 1858 in Centreville, Iowa.¹
     

     There had been a tradition that after the marriage Lorenzo and his wife returned to Tennessee but that does not appear to be supported by the facts as census and deeds indicate a continued residence in Iowa. Another tradition is that Lorenzo became interested in Eliza in Tennessee, that the Cate family migrated to a point near Moravia, Iowa and that he followed them there. Eliza was no more than 10 when the Cates migrated to Iowa so that tradition seems unlikely. It is more likely that Lorenzo accompanied his brother Sterling and wife Nancy, Eliza's sister, to Iowa and there became interested in Eliza.

     Lorenzo Dow Rose was born on 2 May 1856 in Knoxville, Knox Co., Tennessee.¹ He married first Jane Evans on 11 June 1883 in Wayne Co., Iowa.¹ He married second Lydia Belle Newlin.¹ Lorenzo died on 1 September 1928 in Woodland, Iowa, at age 72.¹ He was interred in Shields Cemetery in Woodland, Iowa.¹

     L. D. Rose, son of Starling and Nancy Cates Rose, born in Knoxville, Tennessee May 2, 1856, departed this live at his home near Woodland, Iowa, September 1, 1928 at age 72y 3m 29d. He came to Holden, Missouri where he married Jane Evans. To this union were born daughters Hallie and Onia who preceded him in death, and Ralph who lives near Woodland. His wife died Feb. 13, 1896 and he married to Lydia Belle Newlin. Seven children were born, two have preceded him in death, the surviving; Augustus, Jesse, Russell, Gertie, and Frank all of Woodland. He leaves his wife, 5 sones and a daughter, 4 grandchildren, 2 sisters and a brother, Jane and Wiley of Illinois and Sue of Tennessee. Funeral services were held at Union Church in Woodland, interment in Shields Cemetery near Woodland.¹

     Louisa Eliza Rose was born in 1819 in North Carolina.¹ She married Richard Porterfield on 12 July 1847.¹

     Louisa G. Rose was born circa 1825.¹ She married Samuel B. Dunlap, son of William Dunlap and Mary ?, on 15 January 1852 in Knox Co., Tennessee.^2,3,1 Louisa died in March 1868.^1,4
