     Elisha Rose was born on 3 September 1797 in Washington Co., Tennessee.1,2 He married first Unknown ? before 1815.3 He married second Sarah Householder on 12 March 1839 in Knox Co., Tennessee.4,3 Elisha died in 1862 in Knox Co., Tennessee.1,5,6 He was interred in New Hopewell Baptist Cemetery in Kimberlin Heights, Knox Co., Tennessee.5
     

     In the War of 1812 Land Bounty File #55-80 WT 16001 National Archives, Elisha Rose, Pvt., Capt. Maples, afterwards Capt. Porter, Col. Edwin Boothe, Tenn. Affidavit of Elisha Rose 15 October 1850 from Knox Co., Tenn. but states that he is a resident of Sevier Co., Tenn., aged about 53, drafted at Sevier Co., about 13 November 1814. Affidavit of Elisha Rose, Knox Co., Tenn., 20 April 1855 for land bounty, states age 58, res. Sevier Co., Tenn. There are verifying affidavits by John Jones and John Wilhite.

     On 30 June 1824 (same date as a grant to Hosea Rose), to Elisha Rose 27 acres in Poor Valley on Gap Creek to a stake on Hosea Rose line. On 2 August 1848 Elisha deeded land to Samuel Randles.

     In a deed recorded on October 9 1866, E. W. D. Wrinkle, John Rose, Samuel Rose, Starling Rose, Lindsay Rose, Jessee Rose, L. D. Rose, Margaret Willhite, Louisa Dunlap, and Sarah Kennedy deed to Phebe Brown, all of the county of Knox, for $500, undivided interest "that we have to a certain tract of land know as the Elisha Rose tract, now held under a morgage (sic) given by Elisha rose to E. W. D. Wrinkle," in the county aforesaid, on the French Broad River below a gully Hunnells? lower corner, line of W. B. A. Ramsey, corner between Isaac Hinds and John Reagan, 25 acres. Signed: E. W. D. Wrinkle, Starling (his x mark) Rose, John Rose, Jessee (his x mark) Rose, Margaret (x mark) Willhite, Louisa Dunlap, Lindsey (his x mark) Rose. It is noted that Samuel Rose, L. D. Rose, and Sarah Kennedy did not sign. Evidence indicate that L. D. Rose is Lorenzo Dow Rose who was deceased by this time and it may be that Samuel Rose and Sarah Kennedy were also deceased.1

     Elisha Rose was listed as the head of a family on the 1840 Census in Sevier Co., Tennessee. Enumerated were:
          2 white males 5-10 (Jesse and Lorenzo)
          1 white male 10-15 (Lindsey)
          1 white male 15-20 (Sterling)
          1 white male 40-50 (Elisha)
          1 white female under 5 (unknown)
          2 white females 10-15 (Phebe and Louisa)
          1 white female 15-20 (Margaret)
          1 white female 30-40 (Sarah).7

     Elisha served in the Civil War under the Confederacy in Co. G Fisher's Co., Green's brigade, Bagby's Regiment. He was captured on 28 June 1863 at Donaldsonville, Louisiana and was paroled 6 July 1863 for exchange at City Point, Virginia.

     Elisha Napoleon Rose was born on 30 March 1825 in Roane Co., Tennessee.1,2 He married first Lucinda Hood Wilson on 26 October 1845 in Roane Co., Tennessee.1,2 He married second Nancy Ann Wallace on 20 February 1867.1,2 He married third Mary Francis Hacker on 6 October 1884 in Tennessee.1,2 Elisha died on 8 July 1910 in Roane Co., Tennessee, at age 85.2 He was interred in Roane Co. Cemetery in Roane Co., Tennessee.2
     

     According to Mike Rose, who provided the photo to the Rose Family Association Newsletter, and who is a direct descendant of Elisha, the cabin is in what is now Dyliss, Roane Co., Tennessee. The current owners bought the cabin from the Rose family in the early 1900s. They state that Elisha's son Maynard Wilson Rose, great grandfather of Mike Rose, was born there. The area was originally known as Kreis and according to Elisha's civil war pension file he moved there in 1870-72. The house is now used for storage and "it sits in a beautiful hollow next to a natural spring" says Mike.3
