     Elizabeth Billings was born on 13 April 1784 in Virginia.^1,2,3,4 She married William Bumpass on 28 June 1804 in Davidson Co., Tennessee.^5,6 Elizabeth died on 23 August 1870 in Davidson Co., Tennessee, at age 86.¹ She was interred on 1 November 1870 in Mt. Olivet Cemetery in Nashville, Davidson Co., Tennessee.¹

     Mattie Blunkall was born on 9 February 1858 in Nashville, Davidson Co., Tennessee.^1,2,3,4,5 She married Frank Johnson Lawrence [Sr.], son of Lemuel Lawrence and Nancy Daniel, on 8 August 1878 in Nashville, Davidson Co., Tennessee.⁶ Mattie died on 22 October 1932 in Nashville, Davidson Co., Tennessee, at age 74.¹ She was interred in October 1932 in Mt. Olivet Cemetery in Nashville, Davidson Co., Tennessee.¹

     Innis Brown Bowman was probably born in Franklin, Williamson Co., Tennessee, in 1881.¹ He married Nellie Hill, daughter of James Holbert Hill and Mary Frances Jackson, on 10 November 1918 in Nashville, Davidson Co., Tennessee.¹ Innis died on 16 March 1950 in Franklin, Williamson Co., Tennessee.¹ He was interred in March 1950 in Mt. Olivet Cemetery in Nashville, Davidson Co., Tennessee.¹

     Jennie Bromwell was born in August 1875 in Kentucky.^1,2 She married James Lee Roy Harper, son of James Thomas Harper and Ida Vanetta McMurry, on 9 October 1892.³ Jennie died before 1920.⁴
     

     Jennie Harper was listed as wife at age 24, born in Kentucky, in the household of Roy Harper in Nashville, Davidson Co., Tennessee, in the Census of 1900 enumerated 23 June 1900.¹

     Jennie B. Harper was listed as wief at age 36, born in Kentucky, in the household of J. LeRoy Harper in Nashville, Davidson Co., Tennessee, in the Census of 1910 enumerated 18 April 1910.²

     Eugene A. Bullard Jr. was born in 1909.¹ Eugene died in December 1987 in Tennessee.¹

     Eugene A. Bullard [Sr.] was born in 1869 in Columbia, Tennessee.¹ He married Lazinka Buford Hill, daughter of John Bumpass Hill and Ida Jane Webster, on 5 December 1908 in Nashville, Davidson Co., Tennessee.¹ Eugene died on 4 May 1935 in Nashville, Davidson Co., Tennessee.¹

     Alpha W. Bumpass was born circa 1808 in Davidson Co., Tennessee.^1,2 She married first Calvin Malone on 9 January 1823 in Nashville, Davidson Co., Tennessee.^1,2,3 She married second William McDonald after 1830 in Tennessee.¹
     

     Edwin Cox, Jr. gives the birth date as about 1804.

     Elizabeth Ann Bumpass was born in 1812 in Tennessee.¹ She married Melvin George Cox on 29 August 1831 in Tennessee.² Elizabeth died of congestion on 18 September 1878 in Memphis, Shelby Co., Tennessee.³

     Elizabeth Jane Bumpass was born on 3 August 1829 in Tennessee.^1,2 Elizabeth married first Bedford W. Miles.³ Elizabeth married second Jeremiah F. Robertson on 15 October 1860.³ Elizabeth died on 10 March 1904 at age 74.¹ She was interred on 11 March 1904 in Mt. Olivet Cemetery in Davidson Co., Tennessee.¹

     Elizabeth Jane Miles was listed at age 24, born in Tennessee, as a member of the household of Bedford W. Miles in Davidson Co., Tennessee, in the Census of 1850, enumerated 9 October 1850.²

     Florence Omega Bumpass was born on 9 August 1820 in Davidson Co., Tennessee.^1,2,3 She married Alexander Hill, son of John Hill and Margaret L. Covington, on 9 September 1841 in Davidson Co., Tennessee.^4,5 Florence died on 30 March 1905 in Nashville, Davidson Co., Tennessee, at age 84.⁶ She was interred on 31 March 1905 in Spring Hill Cemetery in Nashville, Davidson Co., Tennessee.⁶
     

     Florence was also known as Oma.

     Information from Don Attison gives the death year and burial as 1905 although he states that the Springhill Cemetery records indicate 1904.

     Omega Hill was listed at age 40, born in Tennessee, as a member of the household of Alexander Hill in 11th Civil District, Davidson Co., Tennessee, in the Census of 1860, enumerated 4 June 1860.¹

     Omega Hill was listed at age 49, born in Tennessee, as a member of the household of Alexander Hill in Davidson Co., Tennessee, in the Census of 1870, enumerated 18 August 1870.²

     Omega Hill was listed as 60 at age Tennessee, in the household of Alexander Hill in Davidson Co., Tennessee, in the Census of 1880 enumerated 6 June 1880.³

     John S. (or G.?) Bumpass was born in 1820 in Tennessee.^1,2 He married Verlinda J. Taliferro on 14 December 1837 in Williamson Co., Tennessee.^3,4 John died before October 1865.⁵

     In the Census of 1850, enumerated 9 October 1850, John S. (or G.?) Bumpass was listed as a head of household in Davidson Co., Tennessee. He was listed at age 30, occupation as a grocer with property value of $600, born in Tennessee. Also enumerated in the household: Verlinda J. Bumpass.²

     Martha Adella Bumpass was born on 29 March 1818.^1,2 She married Greenville D. Grizzard on 2 February 1837 in Davidson Co., Tennessee.^3,4 Martha died on 20 December 1907 in Davidson Co., Tennessee, at age 89.^1,2 She was interred on 23 December 1907 in Mt. Olivet Cemetery in Nashville, Davidson Co., Tennessee.^1,2
     

     Martha Adella Grizzard was listed at age 32, born in Tennessee, as a member of the household of Greenville D. Grizzard in Davidson Co., Tennessee, in the Census of 1850, enumerated 17 November 1850.⁵

     Mary A. Bumpass was born on 29 March 1818 in Tennessee.¹ She married William M. Grizzard on 4 January 1837.² Mary died before 1865.³
     

     Mary is believed by Bettye Heinrich to have been a twin of Martha.

     Tennessee Rucker was listed at age 45, born in Tennessee, as a member of the household of John William Fletcher Rucker in 11th Civil District, Davidson Co., Tennessee, in the Census of 1870, enumerated 17 August 1870.²

     Tennessee Rucker was listed as wife at age 54, born in Tennessee, in the household of John William Fletcher Rucker in 11th Civil District, Davidson Co., Tennessee, in the Census of 1880 enumerated 1 June 1880.⁶

     Thomas P. Bumpass was born in 1809 in Kentucky.¹ He married Mary Jane Woodruff on 22 December 1836 in Williamson Co., Tennessee.^2,3
     

     Thomas P. Bumpass was listed as the head of a family on the 1840 Census in Davidson Co., Tennessee. Enumerated were:
          2 white males under 5 (John and George)
          1 white male 2-30 (Thomas)
          1 white female 20-30 (Mary Jane).⁴

     In the Census of 1850, enumerated 9 October 1850, Thomas P. Bumpass was listed as a head of household in Davidson Co., Tennessee. He was listed at age 41, occupation as a butcher with property value of $500, and having been born in Kentucky.. Also enumerated in the household: Mary Jane Bumpass.⁵

     William Bumpass was born on 5 January 1777 in Hanover Co., Virginia.^1,2,3 He married Elizabeth Billings on 28 June 1804 in Davidson Co., Tennessee.^4,5 William died on 6 January 1862 in Davidson Co., Tennessee, at age 85.⁶ His body was reinterred on 1 November 1870 in Mt. Olivet Cemetery in Nashville, Davidson Co., Tennessee. William died in 1861 and evidently his body was brought from another location or vault and buried beside his wife when she died in 1870..¹
     

     Genealogy of: Bump-Bumpas-Bumpass-Bumpers-Bumps-Bumpus Descendants of Edouad Bompasse of the "Ship Fortune" indicates that this William Bumpass was the son of William Bumpass of Hanover Co., Virginia, but does not give the source for this information. Several researchers are attempting to find supporting evidence of this fact.

     The children and grandchildren of William and Elizabeth are determined by examination of court records of Greenville D. Grizzard vs. Alexander Hill concerning the division of the property of William upon his death covering the period of the September term 1865 through January term 1866.

     Court records in Davidson County Circuit Court, September Term 1865, states William death as 7 January 1862. Handwritten notes in files of Mt. Olivet Cemetery have his date of death as 6 January 1861. Will was written in December of 1861 so the former date must be the correct date of death.

     William Bumpass was listed as the head of a family on the 1840 Census in Davidson Co., Tennessee. Enumerated were:
          1 white male 60-70 (William)
          3 white females 15-20 (Tennessee, Elizabeth Jane, and unknown)
          1 white female 50-60 (wife Elizabeth).⁷

     In the Census of 1850, enumerated 3 September 1850, William Bumpass was listed as a head of household in Davidson Co., Tennessee. He was listed as age 70, occupation as a farmer with property valued at $4,000, born in Virginia.. Also enumerated in the household: Elizabeth Bumpass, Florence Omega Bumpass, John William Fletcher Rucker and Tennessee Rucker.⁸

     In the Census of 1860, enumerated 4 June 1860, William Bumpass was listed as a head of household in 11th Civil District, Davidson Co., Tennessee. He was listed at age 80, occupation as a farmer with real estate value of $8,000 and personal estate value of $3,500, born in Virginia. Also enumerated in the household: Elizabeth Bumpass, John William Fletcher Rucker and Tennessee Rucker.³

     William made a will on 30 December 1861. Will of William Bumpass:

     The uncertainty of Life and the certainty of death is the cause of my making a division of my property. And first I give and bequeath to my wife fifty acres of land Beginning at my north boundary line and running South with W. Turner and Allen Cotton and after her death to go to Tennessee Rucker and the heirs of her own body or in other words the children that she now has and what she may have hereafter Also one horse to my wire Elizabeth and also one negro man named Henry which is about fifty years of age Also one negro girl named Martha about fifteen years of age. The balance of my property to be equally divided between my lawful heirs also the money equally divided between my lawful heirs except Tennessee Rucker which is to have nothing but the fifty acres of land after the death of my wife Elizabeth. I also leave this my last will and testament settled by John Rucker and Greenville Grizzard. I acknowledge this to by my last will and testament whereunto I set hand and test this 30th day of December 1861. Test: Thomas Morgan, W. H. T. Morgan, W. C. Blackman.

     His will was probated on 15 March 1862 in Davidson Co., Tennessee.⁹

     William Bumpass Jr. was born on 31 March 1815.¹ William died on 23 August 1835 in Nashville, Davidson Co., Tennessee, at age 20.¹ He was interred in August 1835 in Brentwood, Tennessee.¹
