Family Bible
Thompson -> Robinson -> Lawrence
Some quick notes, then the transcription, followed by pictures of the bible . . .
- Benjamin and Caroline had (according to the bible) 11 children, however very few of them survived to adult hood or senior citizen age.
- Their Marriage date is noted as 1824 but that would make them the ages of 14 and 12, respectively. However, the year was rewritten at a later time by someone else so it is more than likely a transcription error.
- Swezey (or Sweezey, not sure which) was Caroline Thompson's maiden name.
- In the bible, Maria is listed as marrying a Jarvis Robbertson. Then she is listed in the death section as Maria Robbertson. However we're not sure if there was a misspelling as we were under the assumption she actually married Jarvis Robinson, who then married Juliett upon Maria's death. According to DAR death records, Maria was married to a Jarvis Robinson
- For some reason, not all of Jarvis and Juliett's children are in the bible - there are only three there. According to the 1870 census, Cynthia was the oldest. Also, she is listed as "Cynthianna" (17 yrs old). There is also an Evalina (1 yr old) on the census who is also not in the bible, and in Juliett's obituary (she's actually listed as "Julia") there is a Phoebe. Finally, there is a "death" recorded in the bible as "Rosie B. Curtis". It turns out this might also be a Robinson child.
- It looks like we're related to the Gildersleeves, two fold. Two Robinson girls (Phoebe and I don't know the other) married Gildersleeve men - I got this information from Juliett ("Julia)'s obituary. There are two Gildersleeve's noted in the death section of the bible - from census records it appears these are Pheoebe's sons.
There are three sections to the bible - Marriages, Births, and Deaths. Any of my own comments will be italicized. Question marks (?) indicate where the writing was somewhat illegible.
