In Scotland McKinven was spelled Mac Kinven, "Mac" means son of.
When they came to America it became McKinven.

General Notes: MCKINVEN,MADGE, Age 83, formerly of Detroit, went home to the Lord, Friday,
March 24, 2000. She was preceded in death by her loving husband Robert, her
brother Jack Booth, and sisters Stella Estes and Naomi Leneschmidt. She is
survived by her daughters Laurie (Clint) McKinven-Copus, Robin (Mike)
Nedderman-Haner, adopted daughter Sue Weimer and granddaughter Michelle
McKinven-Copus, and numerous nephews and nieces. A memorial service was held at
the Grandville United Methodist Church with Rev. Robert Hinklin officiating.
Interment will be in Detroit at a later date. Memorial contributions may be made
to the American Cancer Society, Kent County Chapter, 400 Ann St. N.W., Suite

General Notes: Ronald Stewart McKinven Sr., 73, of Covert died Wednesday, Sept. 24, 2008, at Countryside Nursing and Ronald Steward McKinven d 9-24-2008Rehabilitation Community, South Haven.
He was born April 21, 1935, in Detroit to Charles and Carol McKinven. He moved with his mother to Hartford in 1940, and graduated from Hartford High School in 1953.
Ron worked 30 years as a teamster for George Miller Jr., Associated Truck Lines and ANR Freight Company. He enjoyed coon and bear hunting, going to dog shows and working with his dogs. He was a member of the Southwestern Michigan Coon Hunters Association, the Michigan Bear Hunters, the Van Buren County Sportsman's Club, the National Red Bone Association, the National Plott Hound Association and the National Rifle Association.
He is survived by his wife of 55 years, Kay (Rowe) McKinven; sons, Ronald Jr. ("Tuffy") McKinven and Robert McKinven, both of Covert; daughters, Rhonda Crans of Bangor, Roberta Nichols of Keeler, Rita (Al) Hosier of South Haven, Robin (Mickey) Houchin of Bangor, Ruth (John) Wolf of Covert and Marilyn (Mike) Stanek of Florida. He is also survived by 16 grandchildren, Shelli, Stephanie and Charles Crans, Charles McKinven, Natasha Williamson and Nicole Rintamaa, Brent, Katie, James and Judith Hosier, Matthew, Timothy Houchin and Jennifer Prentice, Michael and Christina Wolf and Karaline Stanek; 10 great-grandchildren, Christopher, Abby, Hunter, Regan, Caleb, Aurora, Emma, Prudence, Jordan and Kiven; a brother, Karl Kiser of Florida, and sister, Katrina Miller of North Carolina.
Ron was preceded in death by his parents and a stepfather, William Wood.
The family will welcome friends from 2 to 5 p.m. Sunday, Sept. 28, at the Calvin Funeral Home, Hartford . The funeral service to honor his memory will take place at 11 a.m. Monday, Sept. 29, at the funeral home. The Rev. Charles McNary will serve as officiant. Burial will follow in Thomas Cemetery, Bangor Township. A luncheon will follow at the Van Buren Sportsman's Club, CR 687, Hartford.
