William Laurence and
Margaret Twitty Jones

William Turner Laurence IV, son of William III and Deborah, married on Jan. 21, 1783 to Margaret Twitty Jones, whose family came to Granville County from Amelia County, Virginia. Southside Virginia had lots of Scotch Irish; my father always said the family was part Scotch Irish, so this is possibly the source. She had a paternal ancestor by the name of Robert Jones, so this is surely the source of our grandfather's name. William Turner's brother Abraham married Margaret's sister Leanna Jones. They all lived in Granville County, North Carolina. In addition to Abraham and William Turner, William III and Deborah also had John, James and Mary.

William Turner and Margaret Twitty Jones were married Jan. 21, 1783, in Granville County, North Carolina, and had several children, including Henry Bassett Laurence who was born ca 1787.
