Daniel J. Hourihan
EAST PROVIDENCE - DANIEL J. HOURIHAN, 68, of Larchmere Drive, a truck driver for the former Bird & Son Corp. for 39 years before retiring in 1982, died yesterday at the V.A. Medical Center. He was the husband of the late Frances M. (Daly) Hourihan.
Born in East Providence, he was a son of the late Daniel J. and Elizabeth (Denehy) Hourihan.
Mr. Hourihan was an Army veteran of World War II. He was wounded in the Battle of the Bulge in the European Theater. He was a member of the DAV and the Order of the Purple Heart. After retirement he was a school bus driver for the Ryder Student Transportation for nine years.
He leaves two daughters, Sharon Sherwitz of Jerusalem, Carolyn Furtado of Pawtucket, and two grandchildren.
The funeral will be held Friday at 9 a.m. from the Rebello Funeral Home, 901 Broadway, with a Mass of Christian Burial at 10 at Sacred Heart Church, Taunton Avenue. Burial will be in Mounth St. Mary Cemetery, Pawtucket.
Frances M. (Daly) Hourihan
EAST PROVIDENCE - Frances M. Hourihan, 58, of 62 Larchmere Drive, a retired state Department of Employment Security employee, died Thursday at home. She was the wife of Daniel J. Hourihan.
Born in Providence, a daughter of the late John and Harriet (Schneider) Daly, she lived in East Providence for more than 30 years.
Mrs. Hourihan was a principal claims examiner for the DES for 27 years until illness forced her retirement in September, 1982. She was a member of the Professional Woman's Club of Rhode Island. She was a communicant of Sacred Heart Church.
Besides her husband she leaves two daughters, (there are two smeared lines here that are unreadable but the names are in Daniel's obit). Carolyn Furtado of Central Falls; a sister, Mrs. Carolyn Cathers of Providence and two grandchildren.
The Funeral will be held Monday (again unreadable), Home, 901 Broadway, with a Mass of Christian Burial at 9 at Sacred Heart Church, Taunton Avenue. Burial will be in Mount St. Mary's Cemetery, Pawtucket.
