Bernice Tommie Murdock was born on 25 Aug 1914 in Walnut Ridge, Grant Co., AR. She died on 28 Jan 1988 in Redfield, Jefferson Co., AR. My source for the information I have recorded is an obituary from an unidentified newspaper. The obituary notes that Bernice Mobley was a member of the Redfield Missionary Baptist church.

In 1931, TBM was a member of the Redfield basketball team, according to a clipping with pictures of team members from an unidentified newspaper.

I recall Cousin Bernice very well. My family often visited her in Redfield. She was a very hospitable relative, who cooked wonderful meals and entertained us with many stories. On many occasions, Bernice Mobley nursed sick neighbors through serious illnesses, sometimes even staying in their homes with them to care for them.

I have an article from an Oct. 1983 article from (apparently) the REDFIELD UPDATE. This notes that White Hall school had recently honored its teachers and staff, and that TBM had been given the 1983 outstanding employee award. The article has pictures of TMB in the school kitchen, along with her son Solon. It notes that Solon was asst. principal of the White Hall school, and that her son Harold had formerly been coach of the school. Her son Ricky was a coach at Oak Grove, and her daughter Karen Pender a science teacher at White Hall Jr. High.

A Sept. 1984 picture from THE REDFIELD UPDATE, p. 7, shows TBM with all her children. This notes that Karen Pender was living in Redfield, Harold Mobley in Hope, Solon in Pine Bluff, and Ricky in Redfield. Parents: Thomas Marion Murdock and Alice Catherine Batchelor.

Deliah Lucille Murdock was born on 5 Oct 1911 in Redfield, Jefferson Co., AR. She died on 28 Aug 1995 in Austin, Travis Co., TX. She was buried in Pine St. Cemetery in Lodi, CA. In 1931, DLM was a member of the Redfield basketball team, according to a clipping with pictures of team members from an unidentified newspaper.

For much of her married life, LM lived at Lodi, CA.

Unless otherwise noted, all the information I have recorded about DLM, her spouse, and her descendants, is information sent to me by her daughter Martha in a 19 Oct. 1996 letter. Martha Martin's address at that time was 2142 Jackson Rd., #6, Bradford, AR 72020. Dates of birth and death are also in the memorial book of her father.

Martha Martin tells me the DLM's first name was actually Delilah, for her aunt Delilah Jane Batchelor, but was misspelled Deliah on her birth certificate. Parents: Thomas Marion Murdock and Alice Catherine Batchelor.

Katie Marie Murdock was born on 3 Dec 1902 in Redfield, Jefferson Co., AR. She died on 20 Oct 1992 in Ore City, TX. She was buried in Ore City Cemetery in Ore City, TX. My dates of birth and death for KMM and her husband are from a letter to me dated 11 Sept. 1996 from their daughter Patsy Ruth Westmoreland, Rt. 2, Box 633B, Ore City, TX 75683. At the time that KMM (or Reedie, as we called her) died, I can recall my mother telling me that Reedie dropped dead after going in to check to see that her husband ("Boss," as he was called) was well covered during the night. After tucking cover about his feet, she turned and fell dead, apparently of a stroke or heart attack.

For much of her married life, KMM lived at Lakewood, CA. The family then mofed to Ore City, TX, where KRM spent her last years.

The obituary of KMM says that she died on 22 Oct. 1992 in Ore City, TX, aged 89. It gives her birthdate as 3 Dec. 1902, Redfield, AR. It also states that she married Charles Hugh McCaskill on 26 Dec. 1926. It says she moved from Arkansas to Stockton, CA, in 1943, and to Ore City in 1987. She was buried in the Ore City cemetery. Parents: Thomas Marion Murdock and Alice Catherine Batchelor.

Spouse: Charles Hugh McCaskill. Charles Hugh McCaskill and Katie Marie Murdock were married on 26 Dec 1926 in Redfield, AR. Children were: Patsy Ruth McCaskill.

Mary Murdock was born on 17 Sep 1885. She died on 13 Jul 1927. All my information on the family of Moses Valentine Batchelor and Mary Murdock and their descendants through the generations has been supplied by these descendants.

Note that the information above conflicts with information on the 1900 census, re: the birth date of MM. The 1900 census gives her birthdate as Sept. 1895; see file of Thomas M. Murdock.

A Mary Batchelor who appears to be MM is buried in Holly Creek Cemetery, Glover, McCurtain Co., OK, beside Moses V. Batchelor. But her ages of birth and death conflict with those given me by her descendants. The tombstone reads, "Born 17 Sept. 1885, died 12 June 1928." Parents: .

Thomas Marion Murdock was born on 28 Jan 1876 in AR. He died on 14 Oct 1955 in Pine Bluff, Jefferson Co., AR. He was buried in Orion Cemetery in Grant Co., AR. My dates of birth and death are from the memorial book of TMM, which was in the possession of his granddaughter Patsy Ruth McCaskill Westmoreland in 1996; see her file for her address. In a letter dated 22 Oct. 1996, PRMW sent me the dates, citing the memorial book.

TMM is on the 1900 census in Simpson Twp., Grant Co., AR (p. 258A, ED 38, line 39, fam./dwel. 51; 5 June). Also in the household are his sisters Mary and Martha, and brother Joseph. All were b. AR. TMM's date of birth is Jan. 1876, his sister Mary's Sept. 1895.

I have an obituary of TMM from an unnamed and undated Pine Bluff newspaper, which says he died at the home of his daughter Mae (Mrs. W.N. Triplett) at 1902 W. 12th St., Pine Bluff, after having been in ill health for some time. The obituary gives his parents' names as J.C. and E. Glisten Murdock. It says his funeral was at Redfield Baptist church, with interment at Orion Cem. Parents: .
