Several new cousins contacted me only in last few
weeks
Visit
Julie's Historic Photographs - Julie is a descendant of 1863 John LANKSHEAR marriage to Rebecca WALTERS
in COOMA - Australia and Julie has wonderful photos of John but also
his brother Wm who remained in England. Look please go and look at these
are real treasures. And more added 3/2009
Doug wrote re 1912 Arthur LANKSHEAR - Home Child to Canada - none of us know anything Arthur in UK and who his parents were but it was great to hear from Doug about Arthur making a success in Canada. Just after saying that I go and find a record which indicates 1898 William LANKSHEAR marriage Florence Elizabeth Tasker and birth William Murray Lankshear - I'm checking with Doug and will add more later
John Wright gave me more on 1877 Lucy Lankshear marriage to Wm Wright at Pancras - daughter - Edward W and Frances - I still have not connected the Edward Lankshear branch directly with our Oxfordshire ancestors. Any one have any ideas
Also linked to the Edward branch is Jan Hodder from NZ now in Australia and has informration on two girls of 1870 Robert Lankshear marriage Martha Jane Warner namely 1911 in New Zealand Edith Clare Lankshear marries Albert William Hodder also Florence who married Arthur in 1924 - Florence died at the birth of her and Arthur's child and Edith looked after the child.
Tony Carpenter's ancestors lived in same houses as my grandfather see 1880s Shakespeare Rd and Percy Terrace Brixton - home to Thomas Lankshear and Henry Carpenter - we have been trying to determine which house it is and came up against re-numbering etc - I think it is most interesting as a history of a street.
Jane has an interest in 1865 William Lankshear marriage at Sherborne to Elizabeth ANDREWS as Grace Andrews who is Elizabeth's step mother was born a Vardy and Jane has a lot of data on Vardy. A sad famliy as many of Wm and Elizabeth children died young and the page is worth a read for the school reports on their absences etc - a teacher who was very caring.
The above were just in December
Earlier Months
Ruth has a lot of data on Clare Family is herself descended from 1801 Mary LANKSHEAR from Caswell who married Edmund CLARE from BlackBourton. The Lankshear's have many links with the Clare's - several marriages and Lankshear even being used as Middle name for some children.
Joanna is descended from 1888 Caroline Lankshear at Dorchester marriage to Samuel Marsh and also Tilson Marsh and the Blacklocks etc - Joanna sent some photos of Tilson and family and Marsh homes in Dorset. And some photo of Mounties yes RCMP.
1945 and 1947 Barbara L LANKSHEAR Aero Certificate and in London Gazette - Barbara flew Spitfires as a ferry pilot in WW2
DRAFT I am still adding items
News of April
A sad story but Thomas Lankshear found in 1871 Thomas Lankshear living with Emma and her son Henry in Chiswick whereas his wife 1871 census Jane LANKSHEAR (nee Barrow) wife of Thomas visiting her brother in law

English 1911 census will be available very soon on from http://www.findmypast.com/home.jsp on http://www.1911census.co.uk/ - it will pay to view not subscription so if any one wants to see their families in 1911 it is up to you - actually it is out in beta search at moment and looks very interesting. It is household returns not an enumerator's report so should be our own folks handwriting.
