WILLS for Family History
I have found Wills to be have fantastic information - you should look for them
National Archives has many Wills - from 1384 to 1858 for GBP 3.50 http://www.documentsonline.nationalarchives.gov.uk/
One of sites linked from TNA is A2A http://www.a2a.org.uk/ which is a catalogue of enormous archives and some will be Wills
Later wills may be available through the Court Service - Probate Records from 1858 -

and http://www.hmcourts-service.gov.uk/cms/1183.htm
if you are reasonably sure there was a will, then perhaps you can get
a copy from
Court Service. District Probate Registry. Castle Chambers. Clifford St. YORK YO1 7RG for five pounds.
