Thomas and Mary Lankshear are buried at Witney according to the burial register. There is a memorial inside the church which I think must be for them. Much of the surface is missing completely and what remains is very worn, but it is for ".........LANKSHE.... of Caswell .... died Aug 20 179.. aged (79?) .......... MARY ...... died Aug........ Aged 7....". Enough of the details seem to match for it to be Thomas and Mary. We know from the burial register that Thomas died in 1792, so if he was 79 then that would give a birthdate of about 1713, which would fit very nicely with the date of that baptism of Thomas Lanchishier in Clanfield in 1714. Many of the memorials in the church were moved in the 1800s during extensive restoration, so I don't know if this Lankshear one is in its original position. -----------------------------------------

There are some memorials in Witney church and churchyard to the Lankshears of Caswell. A large tomb in the churchyard is for Robert and Susanna Lankshear. It also mentions daughters Mary (wife of Edmund ....) and Hannah (wife of Robert Sharpe). Their ages and burial dates are rather worn so I will need to check the burial register to confirm the details. There may be more detail on other sides of the tomb which I have not yet deciphered.

I have come across a John Lankshear, who was married to Anne Dorne, daughter of Henry Dorne, in an article about the deeds of a property just across the road from me in Witney. He was bankrupt by 1787. This is probably the one whose wife Ann's will was proved 1812
