Lankesheer, Lankersheer, LANDSHEAR, LAMPSPEAR etc

Whilst my focus is on LANKSHEAR I am also collecting information on similar sounding spelling variations. Many of these records actually are found to be Lankshear's but some are separate branches or different families - but I am pleased if I can help - let me know if you find your family here....

The rest is on Lankesheer which is so close to out spelling but does seem to be Somerset family

Also in Somerset - I was sent the following quote in April 2003
I do know that the Davidge family were prominent in the Monkton Combe and Combe Down area.  Peter
Addison in his book "Around Combe Down" says:
"Until the mid to late 19th century, a handful of local families dominated the stone quarrying scene in Combe Down.  They were families Sumsion,
Davidge, Stennard, Lankersheer, Love and Hancock."

With that I checked IGI 1881 1901 and FreeBMD and NOTHING

Did a www.google.com search and have found some other items - re census in Bath area
Lankersheer also seems to a spelling for Lancashire as a place

But from Google most pages were about Robert Lankersheer a TV Actor who appeared in early Dr Who and Fawlty Towers
Have found a picture of him which comes from a Dr Who episode - Presumably he comes from Somerset

Refer to Malta Family History
Died 8th March 1841, after a short illness, Richard Titus LANKESHEER, aged 38 years. He held the post of Superintendent of Public Works, and there were rumours that he committed suicide after his plans for the building of Queen Adelaide’s church (St.Paul’s Anglican Cathedral), proved to be unsafe. A new architect William Scamp was called in to take over the project
