1861 Thomas and Jane Lankshear

Difficult look up for Alan who did this for me

What we knew from Kelly's directory

1856 Commercial Directory see 1856 directory - 3 Lankshear's
Lankshear Thomas & Co., manufacturers of travelling desks, dressing cases,
 pocket books, etc.
 29 Basinghall Street, City.
1861 - 29 Basinghall Street - No Lankshears there. .Then if
this was a business and the census is taken at night he would not be there
unless he slept on the premises

1856 Court Directory
Lankshear Thos, Almond cot, Hornsey Rd. (I expect this is home address)
So on to check Almond Cottage Hornsey Road.

1861 Search: No Almond Cottages listed in index. So where in Hornsey Road would the
cottages have been in 1856? The only answer to that would be to search all
of Hornsey Road. When I checked this is split over three disks. Fortunately I
was into the second disk when I found him (Thomas) as a Proprietor of
Houses. So given that this is the same Thomas he was a landlord as well as a
bookseller - a man of means no less - no wonder in Court Diectory

Thomas was born in Bloomsbury and Jane was born in Tunbridge (sic) Kent. This could be Tonbridge or Tunbridge Wells
depending on old spelling of Tonbridge.

Thomas aged 49 agrees with gedcom 1811
This census result found Jane - gedcom did not have her before
As son in gedcom is Henry Saville Lankshear I first thought Jane was a Saville
