The Langston Family Reunion has met on the Fourth Sunday in June every year since 1941 at the Society Hill Baptist Church on Mississippi Highway 13 in Jefferson Davis County, Mississippi. The time is noon. The potluck dinner is plenty and good. A donation is accepted to defray the costs of the papergoods and to make a donation to the church for the use of the Air Conditioned facility. (It is June in Mississippi, after all.)
The Reunion was set up particularly to serve the descendants of Dempsey Langston (5 Jan 1825 to 11 Feb 1875) and his wife Elizabeth Taylor (26 Jan 1826 to 29 Mar 1916). Dempsey Langston was the third son of David Langston (1794 to 1851) and wife Sarah aka Sally Askew (30 Dec 1801 - 1877).
Many of the descendants of David and Sally Askew Langston are gathered together in The Langston Family History; 936 pages of Family Group Sheets including some 3500 names, stories, and some pictures; fourth publication and update in 1996. Some books are still available. Please contact James V. Langston at (601) 792-8119 for further information. The history, shipped to you at your address is $41.00 ($35.00 for the History and $6.00 shipping and handling). Make your check out to James V. Langston and send it to him at 455 Park Fortenberry Road, Oak Vale MS 39656-8096. Please indicate your shipping address.
