ROSALIE,
daughter of
AARON & FANNY BEEKMAN
Born May 13th 1855
Died September 3rd 1862
___________

SHE WAS KILLED BY A SHELL, AND
WAS THE SOLE VICTIM OF THE
BOMBARDMENT OF NATCHEZ, BY
THE U.S. NAVY, SEPT. 2d, 1862.

___________

The summons came forth,
and she died!
Yet her parting was gentle,
for thee
Whom she loved, mingled tears
at her side.
Her death, was dear Rosa's
repose.

Our weakness may weep
o'er her bier
But her spirit has gone
on the wing,
To triumph for agony here,
To rejoice in the joy of her
king.
