MANTEO - Gladys Berry WILSON, 70, better known as "Gran", loved like a mother and grandmother by many, died Tuesday, May 23 at her home. She was born in Engelhard, the daughter of the late Cecil L. and Mabel Watson Berry. She was married to the late Willis L. Wilson, was a homemaker and a member of the Roanoke Acres Church of Christ. She is survived by four daughters: Betty W. Groce of Manteo, Nancy W. Powell of Manteo, Ginger Reber of Wanchese, and Lisa W. Moseley of Waverly, Va.; five sons: Billy Wilson, Charles Wilson, and Dave Wilson, of Manteo, Joe Wilson of Wanchese and Mikey Wilson of Goldsboro; one sister, Linda B. Pentecost of Wanchese; four brothers: Carroll Berry, Stafford Berry, Jimmy Berry, and Russell Berry, all of Manteo; 18 grandchildren and 4 great-grandchildren. The funeral will be at Twiford Colony Chapel in Manteo on Friday, May 26 at 2 p.m. by the Rev. Kenneth McCrickard and the Rev. Travis Dowdy. Burial will follow at Roanoke Island Memorial Gardens. Twiford's Colony Chapel in Manteo is in charge of arrangements.3
