The earliest known ancestor for this line is Lewis Berry, born about 1811 in Virginia. His wife, Catherine Smith, was daughter of William Smith and Lucy Ann Kreidler. The first child of Lewis and Catherine, Mary E. Berry was born in 1837 in Warren Co., Ohio. Sons George A. Berry (b. 1840), Lewis Marquis Berry (b. 1842), Thomas Berry (b. 1844) and Andrew Berry (b. 1846) were born in Montgomery Co., Ohio. Lewis Berry was in Tippecanoe Co., Indiana in 1847 where his daughter Sarah F. Berry was born. By 1855 Lewis Berry and family were in Richland Co., Wisconsin, where their son Martin Garrison Berry, was born. Lewis Berry died in Boaz, Dayton Township, Richland Co., Wisconsin in 1892.
