Roy B. Langill of Stoughton, a retired Boston firefighter, died Monday at Caritas Good Samaritan Hospital in Brockton. He was 90. Born and raised in Roxbury, he attended Boston Public Schools. Mr. Langill served in the Navy during World War II as a seaman first class. He received both the World War II Victory Medal and the American Area Medal for his service. Upon discharge from the military, he began his career as a Boston firefighter in March 1945 with Engine 14 in Roxbury. He was later transferred to Engine 37 in Roxbury and Engine 49 in Readville, retiring in 1977 after 32 years of service. During his career, he also served as an aide to the District 5 fire chief. Mr. Langill was an active member of the Boston Firefighters Union Local 718, the International Association of Firefighters and the Boston Fireman's Relief Association. He was also a member of the First United Methodist Church in Stoughton, the Stoughton Golden Agers and the St. Georges Association. Husband of the late Etta G. (Jones), Mr. Langill is survived by two sisters, Grace Mydlow and Rose E. Olsen, both of Dedham; three nieces; four nephews; and many grandnieces and grandnephews. A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. today at the Sheehan Funeral Home, Stoughton. Burial will be in Canton Corner Cemetery, Canton. Arrangements by the Sheehan Funeral Home, Stoughton.
