COOK, Leland Bernard - 87, Truro, passed away June 7, 2006 in The
Mira, Truro. Born in Mill Village, he was a son of the late George
and Emily (Dow) Cook. He served overseas with the North Nova Scotia
Highlanders during the Second World War in Belgium, Holland and
Germany. He was an adherent of the United Church. He was a retired
supervisor of public passenger vehicles motor carrier administration.
He was also a member of the Royal Canadian Legion, Branch 26, and the
Good Time Senior Citizens Club. He is survived by his wife, Helene
Langille (Downing); daughter, Evelyn (Hugh) Dunphy, Bath, Me.; sons,
George (Betty), Digby; Ross (Theresa), Orleans, Ont.; Eric
(Michelle), Truro; Gary (Karen), Korea; stepchildren, Gail Downing,
Whitby, Ont.; Valerie (Kenny) Morrisey, Onslow Mountain; Ronald
(Katherine) Downing, Truro; Margaret (Ted) Shearer, Belmont; Greg
(Kathy) Downing, Hay River, N.W.T.; Lynn (Gary) Ehler, Truro; Ann
(Bruce) Fiddes, Lower Onslow; Cindy (Kenzie) Dawson, Cold Lake,
Alta.; Kathy Downing-Crowe, Lower Onslow; brothers, Dr. George
(Phyllis) and Murray (Grace), both of Truro; Calvin (Carol),
Penticton, B.C.; sister, Olive Rogerson, Moncton, N.B.; several
grandchildren and stepgrandchildren. He was predeceased by his
brother, William. Cremation has taken place. No visitation by
request. A private graveside service will take place at a later date
with Pastor Glen Ronson officiating. In lieu of flowers, donations
may be made to The Mira or a charity of choice. Arrangements
