MILLARD, Mary "Reta"
Truro and formerly of Upper Stewiacke, passed away December 28, 2008,
in Cedarstone Enhanced Care, Truro, surrounded by her loving family.
Born in Upper Stewiacke, she was a daughter of the late Frank and
Elizabeth (Langille) Fulton. She was 91 and the last surviving member
of her immediate family. Reta was a very hard worker. She worked for
Fulton and Hickman and the Community Co-op Store in Upper Stewiacke
for a number of years. She was a member of the Upper Stewiacke United
Church and was very devoted to the Ladies Auxiliary of the Upper
Stewiacke Volunteer Fire Department. She was an avid quilter and also
loved to knit and do crafts for charities, families and friends. Reta
was very kind, friendly, loving and compassionate to all. Reta and
her husband, Bill, loved to dance to old time music and play cards
until failing health prevented them from doing so. She and Bill moved
to Truro in 1999. Reta leaves to mourn her loving husband,
William "Bill" of 52 and a half years, also a resident of Cedarstone
Enhanced Care, Truro; stepdaughters, Geraldine (Geri) Dedrick,
Halifax; Eunice Bishop, Sarasota, Fla.; nieces, Mary Trenholm,
Ontario; Marilyn (Lee) Robinson, Wortham, Mass.; Margaret (Carman)
Mason, Bible Hill; nephews, Franklyn (Marion) Fulton, Otterbrook; Lee
(Janet) Fulton, Ottawa, Ont.; several great- nieces and nephews; 20
stepgrandchildren, 21 step great-grandchildren; four great great
stepgrandchildren; sister-in-law, Ruth Fulton, Truro. She was
predeceased by brothers, John (Martha), Fred (Ella); sisters, Lena
Taylor, Effie (Guy) Gahan; stepgrandson, Cpl. James Edward Dedrick.
Visitation will be held Friday, January 2, from 5-7 p.m. with funeral
service Saturday, January 3, at 12 noon, both in Colchester Community
Funeral Home, 512 Willow St., Truro, Rev. Natalie Buchanan-Rutherford
officiating. Interment at a later date in Riverside Cemetery, Upper
Stewiacke. Family flowers only. Donations in her memory may be made
to the Colchester Regional Hospital, Cedarstone Activity Department,
378 Young St., Truro, NS B2N 7H2, or the Truro SPCA. We, the family
wish to thank the staff of Victoria Lane, Cedarstone for the
wonderful, compassionate, loving care that Reta received for the two
