LANGILLE, Alfred Gordon - 89, Martha Street, Pictou, died peacefully, with family members at his side, Thursday, February 3, 2005, in Glen Haven Manor, New Glasgow. Born in Pictou, he was a son of the late Malcolm and Mae (McCready) Langille of Pictou. Living in Pictou all of his 89 years, he spent most of his working life at the Trenton Car Works where he was employed as a welder and in later years was employed by Ferguson Industries in Pictou as a production efficiency supervisor where he retired in 1980. He was a very talented musician and was a member of the Pictou Fire Department Fireman's Band. His music interest included the trumpet (his passion), accordion, guitar and harmonica. Alfred was an avid reader and possessed a broad knowledge of world affairs with an affinity for politics. His self-teaching enabled him to match wits with anyone on any subject. He is survived by his devoted wife of 62 years, Jean (Henderson); daughter, Judy (Tom) Flowers, Pembrooke, N.H.; sons, Robert (Valerie) and Glenn, both of Hamilton, Ont.; daughters, Colleen (Collie) Rafuse, Caribou River; Maxine Kennedy, Westville; grandsons, Mark, Tommy, Craig, Brian, Ronald, Darcy, Trevor, Justin, Josh, Matthew; granddaughters, Tamara, Amber, Sharon, Krista; 11 great-grandchildren; sisters, Elaine Jay, Doreen Snow, and brother, Robert, all of Pictou. He was predeceased by beloved daughter, Janice McGaugh; grandson, David McGaugh; granddaughter, Kathleen Flowers; a brother in infancy; sister, Lois Mary. Visitation will be held 7-9 p.m. Sunday in McLaren Funeral Home, Pictou. Funeral service will be held 2 p.m. Monday in St. James Anglican Church, Pictou, Rev. Robert Richmond officiating. Burial will be in St. James Cemetery. Family flowers only please. Donations may be made to a charity of your choice.
