KYNOCK, Dorothy Belle - It is with sadness that we announce the death of Dorothy Belle Kynock, on May 7, 2007, in Arborstone Enhanced Care Facility, Halifax.
Born December 7, 1915, in Centreville, Kings Co.,
she was a daughter of the late Maude Schofield and Charles Langille,
and stepdaughter of Mary Louise Westhaver.
Dorothy is survived by her sons, Father Harley (Honey) and Edward (Judi);
grandsons, Jonathan and Benjamin,
and dear sister, Emma Morton, Windsor, Kings Co.
She was predeceased by her loving husband, Freeman;
stepsisters, May Reid (Ontario), Kathleen Pineo, Elsie Pineo (Aylesford); half-sister, Florence Lake, and half-brother, Lawrence Langille (Canning).
Dorothy and her husband owned and operated Westcliffe Groceries located at the corner of Bayer's Road and Oxford Street, for a number of years. She loved working and serving the general public and took much interest in the people she met at her establishment. Local children were always given special attention and care, especially at the ice cream counter and the penny candy items. Upon her retirement, she never lost interest of what was happening at "her corner store" and sadly missed her clients and staff.
Cremation has taken place. There will be no visitation. A funeral service will be held in the chapel of Atlantic Funeral Home, 6552 Bayers Rd., Halifax, at 11 a.m. on Monday, May 14, Father Harley Kynock officiating. Reception to follow. Interment in Oakridge Memory Gardens, Lower Sackville.
The family wishes to acknowledge Arborstone Enhanced Care Facility management, doctors, nurses, caregivers, recreation staff, food attendants and other staff members who contributed exceptional caring and loving attention to Mom during her residence. Thank you for your special gift. We thank everyone who was a friend and support to Mom and to those who made personal visits. We also thank the many Department of Health care givers who assisted us with home care support prior to her residence at Arborstone.
Family flowers only. Donations may be made to Arborstone Recreation Department, 126 Purcell's Cove Rd., Halifax, NS B3P 1B5, or a charity of your choice. On-line condolences may be sent to the family by visiting: www.atlanticfuneralhomes.com
