LANGILL, Albert Fraser (Al) - 80, Gables Lodge, Amherst, formerly of Toronto,
died April 29, 1998, in Highland View Regional Hospital, Amherst.
Born in Nelson, B.C.,
he was a son of the late Allison and Rachel (Anderson) Langill.
He served overseas with the Canadian Army,
Duke of Connaught's Own Rifles Armored Regiment during the Second World War
and with the 1st Battalion, Nova Scotia Highlanders Reserve during the 1960s.
He was a former member of Royal Canadian Legion, Branch 10, Amherst,
and sang with the Liberation Choir of the legion,
which sang in Holland in 1995 on the 50th anniversary of their liberation.
He was an employee of Enamel and Heating Ltd. of Amherst for over 15 years
and then Amherst Recreation Department until his retirement in 1983.
He was a member of St. Charles Church, was a former member of the church choir,
Knights of Columbus and the Amherst Barbershoppers.
He was a coach in Amherst little league for over 20 years.
Surviving are daughters, Maureen (Mrs. Eldon Deegan), Amherst;
Diane Langill, Port Coquitlam, B.C.;
sons, Rod, Greenwood;
Allan, Richmond Hill, Ont.;
sisters, Mrs. Bessie Teichroeb, Alberta;
Mrs. Edna Hayward, Mrs. Carrie Hertner, British Columbia;
brother, Clarence, Campbell River, B.C.;
five grandchildren; two great-grandchildren.
He was predeceased by his wife, the former Helena MacDougall;
daughter, Gayla Johnson.
Visitation 7-9 p.m. today, legion service 7 p.m. today,
parish prayers 8 p.m. today, all in Furlong's Funeral Home, Amherst.
Funeral 11 a.m. Saturday in St. Charles Church, Rev. John L. Hayes officiating.
Burial in St. Charles-Nativity Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, donations to Canadian Cancer Society or Heart and Stroke Foundation of Nova Scotia.
