PERKINS (Langille), Muriel Cecelia - 72. Passed away peacefully in the New Halifax Infirmary, QEII,
on Saturday, February 1, 2003.
Born on Tancook Island,
she grew up in a large loving and caring family.
After completing her education she taught school for a short period of time.
She moved to Halifax in the early 1950s where she worked at Maritime Medical.
She met Richard and soon afterward was married, they moved to Dartmouth where they lived for many years.
She was predeceased by her husband, Richard; her parents, Ervin James and Lola Mae Langille (Stevens);
brothers, Percy and Wilfred (Tancook Island).
She is survived by daughter, Lynn Small (Perkins);
grandsons, Dustin and Jordan, Dartmouth;
sisters, Essie, Ontario;
Marjorie, Blanche; Irene, Chester Basin;
brothers, Robert, Tancook Island; Ervin, Louisbourg.
Muriel was so many things to so many people, she was a devoted, loving mother and best friend to daughter Lynn;
a proud, doting and supportive grandmother to Dustin and Jordan; a good friend to so many people.
She always exemplified an image of dignity, style, grace and beauty no matter what the occasion or circumstances.
She loved to garden, she loved to dance, she loved her cats, but most of all she loved the people close to her.
She was known to the many, many young people she came into contact with, through her grandsons,
simply as "grandma", this is a title she carried proudly and
she was never happier than when she was surrounded by these young people who found her so fascinating.
Muriel will be sadly missed by all who had the good fortune and pleasure of knowing her,
by her loving sisters and brothers and son-in-law and by her daughter and
grandsons on whom she felt the sun rose and set.
Special thanks to all the family, friends and health care professionals who helped during this difficult time.
A memorial service will be held 2 p.m. Thursday, February 6, in New Hope Community Church in Western Shore,
Rev. Peter Snow officiating.
In lieu of flowers, donations to the Canadian Cancer Society or
Samaritan's Purse would be appreciated by the family.
