G. Daniel 'Danny' Dorrington Daniel George Dorrington
c1933- March 12.2002
DORRINGTON, G. Daniel "Danny", 69, South Main Street, Westville,
passed away at his home on Tuesday evening, March 12, 2002,
surrounded by his family.
Born in New Glasgow,
he was a son of the late Colin and Marjorie (Langille) Dorrington.
He was formerly employed at B.F. Goodrich, Sumners, and Westburne,
and the last few years with Beth Enterprises.
He is a former member of the Stellarton Lion's Club,
Westville Minor Hockey Association;
and the Pictou County Umpires Association, where he umpired for 35 years.
Dan is survived by his wife Julia (Henderson),
sons, Colin (Lynda), Westville;
Danny (Nancy) Greenwood, and
Frank (Carolyn) Fall River;
daughters, Carol Lynn Raithby (Scott), Belleville, Ontario,
and Lisa, at home;
11 grandchildren, Jill, Jennifer, and Ian,
Jaclyn, Julia, Hollie, and Kristian,
Kailah and Brian,
Jordan and Sidney.
He is also survived by sister Betty Fraser (John), Fort Saskatchewan;
mother in law, Ruby Ferguson, Stellarton,
and many nieces and nephews.
He was predeceased by a brother Jim, and a sister Cass-Ann Borden,
and a brother and sister in infancy.
Visitation was held on Thursday and Friday at Eagles Funeral Home, Westville.
His funeral service was held on March 16 from St. Bee's Anglican Church, Westville,
with Father James MacCorriston officiating.
Burial was in St. Bee's Cemetery.
Family flowers only.
Donations in his memory may be made to St. Bee's Anglican Church
or to the Canadian Cancer Society.
Dan was very proud of his children and grandchildren
and will be remembered for his many acts of kindness.
