GILBY, R. Lee - 62, East Prince Street, Truro, passed away peacefully, July 29, 2002,
at home, after a courageous battle with many illnesses.
Born in Truro,
he was a son of Pearl (Snow) Gilby, Truro and the late James Gilby.
Lee was retired after 38 years of dedicated service as manager of Commercial Equipment, Truro.
In his younger years, he was a champion bowler and he also enjoyed many activities
including owning and racing horses.
His hobbies also included card parties, hockey games, and most of all spending time with his family.
He was a member of the United Commercial Travelers for 38 years.
He is survived by his wife, the former Carole Langille;
son, Randy (Darlene), Lyons Brook;
daughters, Leanne (David) MacKenzie, Truro;
Chera, Halifax.
He was the proud grandfather of Carley and Cecely Gilby and Jayden Mackenzie;
brother, Boyd (Simonne) Gilby, Moncton, N.B.;
sisters, Laverne Watt (Neil), Debert;
Janet (Lloyd) Nelson, Bible Hill;
Joyce (Wayne) Spencer, Great Village.
He was predeceased by brother, Ross; sister, North Taggart.
Visitation will be 2-4, 7-9 p.m. Wednesday in Mattatall Funeral Home, Truro.
Funeral service will be held Thursday at 2 p.m. in Immanuel Baptist Church, Truro,
Rev. Peter Reid officiating with a reception to follow in the church hall.
Burial will be in Watson Cemetery, Truro.
In lieu of flowers, donations in memory to Immanuel Baptist Church, Truro,
or to a charity of ones choice.
