LANGILLE, Winnie K. - It is with great sorrow to her beloved family that Winnie K. Langille (Smith)
passed away, at the age of 88, on July 6, 2002,
at her home in Martins River, surrounded by love and with a peacefulness of soul.
Winnie was a long-time resident of Halifax, residing on Connolly Street,
with her husband James T. Smith and their daughter Jean V. Smith.
Widowed in 1973, Winnie busied herself with many interests and several years later,
returned to Martins River, near her place of birth, Martins Point.
She was then married to Edgar C. Langille,
for over 10 years until his death, January 31, 1991.
Winnie enjoyed a closeness of family and friends far and wide.
She was a strong source of strength for everyone.
Winnie is survived by her daughter, Jean Gilmore-Dunbar, Halifax;
grandchildren, Debbie Morin (Dave), Vancouver, B.C.;
Steven Gilmore (Dana), Los Angeles, Calif.;
Patrick Gilmore (Phyllene), Okotoks, Alta.;
Darrell Gilmore, Calgary, Alta.;
several great- grandchildren;
sisters, Ruth Eveleigh, Betty Hiltz (Leroy);
brother, George Barkhouse (Lil); sister-in-law, Ethel Barkhouse;
numerous nieces and nephews.
She was predeceased by her parents, Warren and Ellen Barkhouse;
brothers, Frank and Ross;
sister, Dorothy; infant sister, Grace.
There will be a private family graveside service the morning of Wednesday, July 10,
followed by a memorial service at 1:30 p.m. in St. Martins Anglican Church, Martins River,
Rev. Linda Macdonald officiating.
A "Celebration of Life" reception will follow in the Martins River Fire Hall ending at 4 p.m.
Arrangements are under the direction of Mahone Funeral Home, Mahone Bay.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to a charity of your choice.
A special thank you is extended by the family to Dr. David Abriel, Mahone Bay,
for his compassionate dedication and care,
to the Chester Pharmacare caregivers for the extraordinary care given,
and to the attentiveness from the Victorian Order of Nurses.
