LANGILLE (Pitts Pettipas), Anne Elizabeth -
It is with human sadness and spiritual joy that the family of Anne Elizabeth
announce her sudden passing October 30, 2001, in QEII Health Sciences Centre.
Born in Larrys River, Guysborough Co. in 1915,
she was a daughter of the late Charles and Lucy (Avery) Pitts Pettipas.
She came to Halifax as a teenager to seek employment at the Halifax Hotel.
There she met her future husband Rex Langille
and they created a nurturing family life together.
Anne had established early a commitment to her Moran Street,
central Halifax community and to her church community of St. Patrick's,
neighbours, parishioners, friends and family were touched daily by her care.
Her path to their doors was worn well.
Her church work included 40 years of sacristy preparation and lay ministry
for the sick and seniors at the G.B.Isnor, Sunrise, St. Vincent's and Northwood Manors.
Anne received high recognition for her pastoral tending
by receiving the Archdiocesan Medal of Merit and the Papal Medal in 1985.
Her community life also included a very active political involvement at all levels of government.
During the past year, as a resident of St. Vincent's Guest House along with husband Rex,
Anne actively remains part of her neighbourhood.
Anne is survived by her husband, Rex;
daughters, Joan (Mrs. Pat Kelly), Halifax;
Eileen (Mrs. Roger Mills), Vancouver;
Evelyn (late Graham Murphy), Toronto;
Carolyn (Mrs. Peter Petropolis), Halifax;
Mary (Mrs. David Pellerine), Larrys River;
nieces, Anne Marie Pitts, Marjorie MacKay, Veronica Grandy;
nephews, Charlie and Eldon Pellerine;
"fifth daughter", Virginia Turner.
She was predeceased by brothers, Bernie, Joseph, Phillip, Fred.
Visitation to celebrate her life is in Cruikshank's Funeral Home, Robie Street,
2-4, 7-9 p.m. today and Friday.
Funeral mass 11 a.m. Saturday, November 3, in St. Patrick's Church, Brunswick Street,
His Grace, Archbishop Terrence Prendergast S.J. officiating.
Final resting place for Anne will be in Camp Hill Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, remember Anne's charities,
Hope Cottage, St. Vincent de Paul Society or St. Patrick's Church.

It is with extreme sadness and again with spiritual joy
that the family of Rex James
announce the sudden death of their father on November 2, 2001.
He joined his wife Anne, who passed away Tuesday, October 30, 2001,
after 65 years of marriage.
Rex was born in Halifax, March, 1915.
He was a son of the late Roy and Catherine (Myers) Langille.
Rex dedicated his life to his wife and four daughters.
His first employment was delivering laundry in a horse drawn buggy,
which led to a lifelong interest in horses.
His career of 44 years was with the Canadian National Railway,
never once boarding a train.
His interests were diverse from his talent in drawing,
his astronomy studies and his passionate interest in local and national sports.
Rex is survived by daughters,
Joan (Mrs. Pat Kelly), Eileen (Mrs. Roger Mills), Evelyn (late Graham Murphy),
Carolyn (Mrs. Peter Petropolis);
fifth daughter, Virginia Turner;
grandchildren, Sean and Coleen Murphy, Darcy Stolte,
Nicholas, Christian and Harrison Petropolis.
Rex was predeceased by his wife, Anne;
brother, Harold;
sisters, Norma Sinyerd and Evelyn Gay.
Funeral mass for Rex and Anne will be 11 a.m. today in St. Patrick's Church, Brunswick Street,
His Grace, Archbishop Terrence Prendergast S.J. officiating.
In lieu of flowers, remember Rex to Hope Cottage.
