William Caldwell

NEW GERMANY, May 19
One of the oldest residents of Union Square, William Caldwell, passed away on Monday,
death being due to pneumonia.
He was the son of the late Mr and Mrs Hugh William Caldwell
and was born at New Cornwall eighty-six years ago.
Of the family one sister, Carrie, widow of William Starratt - a lady upwards of ninety years of age and living in the United States-survives.
In early life Mr Caldwell married Miss Hannah Langille,
daughter of Mr and Mrs Lewis Langille, of New Cornwall,
who survives, although dangerously ill with pneumonia.
The first years of their married life were spent in New Cornwall,
but over fifty years ago they moved to Union Square
where they have since resided and carried on farming successfully.
Beside his wife and sister, Mr Caldwell is survived by two daughters and two sons.
The daughters are Oliva, wife of F. B. Dennett,
and Hannah, wife of Harry Crossland, both of whom,
together with a son, John Caldwell, reside at Lynn, Mass.
The other son, William, with his family, resides at the old homestead, and have cared for the parents.
