Ruby E. Langill, 80, of Bremerton died June 23, 1999, at Harrison Hospital of cancer.
She was born Jan. 8, 1919, in Greenbrier, Saskatchewan, Canada,
to Chester W. and Mable (Smith) Ray.
She grew up in Monroe, Wash., attending Monroe Union High School.
She married Jack H. Langill on Jan. 25, 1936, in Monroe.
The couple was married 63 years.
Mrs. Langill was employed as a cafeteria cook
with the Central Kitsap School District for 20 years, retiring in 1971.
She worked at Central Kitsap High School and Central Kitsap Junior High School.
She was an active member of Silverdale United Methodist Church for more than 50 years.
She also was a member of the United Methodist Women and
Take Off Pounds Sensibly (TOPS), serving as a TOPS queen.
Survivors include a son, Ray Langill of Des Moines, Iowa;
a daughter, Colleen Mey of Silverdale;
a brother, Clarence of Monroe;
five sisters, Belle Wall of Monroe, Helen Erickson of Seattle,
Dora Butler of Clayton, Belle Curd of Tswassen, B.C.,
and Dorothy Maier of Regina, Saskatchewan;
three grandchildren, Bob Mey and Jeanine Hurst, both of Bremerton,
and Richard Langill of Des Moines, Iowa;
two stepgrandchildren, Tamira Nelson and Shelly Hampton, both of Des Moines;
and 10 great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by a son, Jerry Langill, June 22, 1955;
two sisters, Agnes Mantei and Ethel Speaks; and a brother, Wilfred Ray.
Visitation will be from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. Monday at Miller-Woodlawn Funeral Home.
A memorial service will be at 11 a.m. July 3 at Silverdale United Methodist Church.
Memorial donations may be made to Silverdale United Methodist Church
or to the Silverdale United Methodist Church Youth Program, both at P.O. Box 86, Silverdale, WA 98383.
