Gordon Albert Langille
July 14, 1918 - June 16, 2000
LANGILLE, Gordon Albert - 81, 26 Haven Dr., Bridgewater, passed away June 16, 2000,
in the South Shore Regional Hospital, Bridgewater.
Born in Halifax, he was a son of the late Everette and Naomi (Berringer) Langille.
He attended Tower Road School, Morris Street High School,
served with the school Cadets during those years and
was a member of the 1st Heavy Anti-Aircraft Battery R.C.A. in Canada from 1933-1939
and was trained at the outbreak of the Second World War.
He then served from September 1939 to July 1945 and was detailed to instructional duties for the service.
Prior to the war he was employed by Eatons in the late fall of 1936 and retired in 1981
with a managerial position of various departments.
He enjoyed life with the public and felt his associates were one big family.
He helped in the opening of the Halifax Shopping Center.
After retirement he left Halifax to enjoy country living.
He took a part time job with W.H. Schwartz serving grocery stores Chester to Liverpool.
He was a 30 year member of the Royal Canadian Legion, Bridgewater.
He loved country music and flashy cars.
He is survived by his wife, Ella (Joudrey);
daughter, Carol Kenefick, New Germany;
son, Douglas, Halifax;
grandsons, Troy and Trevor, Dartmouth and Chezzetcook;
great-granddaughters, Kala, Jessica and Megan;
one great-grandson, Justin;
brother, Donald, Tantallon.
He was predeceased by brother, Victor.
Visitation will be in Sweeny's Funeral Home, Bridgewater, 2-4, 7-9 p.m today,
a public legion tribute service will be 7 p.m. today.
Funeral service will be 11 a.m. Tuesday in St. Mark's Anglican Church, Martins Point,
Rev. Michael Mitchell officiating.
Family flowers only, memorial donations may be made
to the IWK Children's Hospital or any charity.
Reception to follow in the church hall.
