Brunswick St. United Church, Truro, was the scene of a pretty wedding
on Saturday July 18, 1970 at 7:30pm when Rev. Vincent Ihasz united in marriage
Muriel Margaret Langille and Robert William Fowlie.
The bride is the daughter of Mr. & Mrs. Murray Langille, Division Rd, Pictou,
and the groom is the son of Mr. & Mrs. Charles Fowlie, 280 Brunswick St. Truro.
The Church was decorated with baskets of white & yellow mums.
Nuptial music was played by Mrs. J. B. Herdman.
She accompanied the soloist, Mrs. Gary Chisholm, Kemptown
who sang "O Perfect Love" and "Because" during the ceremony.
Entering the Church on the arm of her father by whom she was given in marriage,
the bride wore an A- line street length gown of white French crepe,
trimmed with laced daisies, and sleeves which came to points at the wrists.
Her detachable train was edged with matching trim,
her short bouffant veil of nylon tulle was held in place by a crown of seed pearls
and she carried a bouquet of red roses.
The matron of honor, Mrs. William Crowell, Bible Hill
wore an aqua metallic dress with chiffon sleeves.
Her headdress was matching rosebuds and her bouquet was pink roses.
William Crowell, Bible Hill, was best man
and the ushers were Douglas and Allan MacLeod.
Reception
A reception for 100 guests was held at the home of the groom`s parents.
The guests were received by the bridal party and the parents of the bride & groom.
For her daughter`s wedding Mrs Langille chose a dress of light blue acetate and nylon lace
with a white picture hat and accessories.
Her corsage was white and pink carnations.
The groom`s mother chose a dress of white and pink fortel
with pink hat and white accessories and a corsage of white carnations.
The bride & groom presented her bouquet to Mrs. Mac Theakston, Truro,
a friend of the family, who was unable to attend the wedding due to illness.
For a wedding trip to PEI the bride wore a beige knitted dress and coat ensemble,
matching beige hat and shoes.
On their return to Truro they will reside at 7 Wood St.
Out of town guests were present from Pictou, Halifax, Kentville and Truro.
